"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

"Great service and very timely! Part of our basement flooded and they arrived shortly after we called. The two gentlemen helped us finish moving a few things, got the water out, dried the couple of rugs we have and got fans running. Extremely professional and thorough! Thank you Stanley Steemer"

"Actually I was a little nervous about using Johnson's, but once I talked to Mr Johnson and he reassured me of his work, I decided to give him a try and I am glad I did. He did a very good job on my sofa and love seat. The color is a off white and I had never had it cleaned before. By the time he had finished, it looked like new again. I am very pleased with his worked. Thank you very much for recommending him to me."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Upholstering projects in Manistee can enhance your home’s appeal, especially for lakefront or vacation properties. Fresh, well-maintained furniture with durable, humidity-resistant fabrics attracts buyers and renters seeking a coastal aesthetic. Completing updates before summer maximizes marketability during peak tourism. Quality upholstery care signals attentive home maintenance, which can positively influence perceived value in Manistee’s competitive real estate market.

Helpful?

In Manistee, create a seasonal furniture care routine by inspecting upholstery every spring and fall. In spring, check for dryness, sun fading from winter sunlight, and cushion compression. In fall, look for signs of humidity damage, mold, or mildew from lake-effect moisture. Regularly vacuum, rotate cushions, and treat fabrics with moisture barriers to help prevent seasonal wear and extend your furniture’s lifespan.

Helpful?

In Manistee, cosmetic upholstering focuses on updating fabric colors, patterns, and textures to match coastal home styles or refresh sun-faded pieces. Functional projects address issues like sagging cushions, moisture-damaged padding, or weakened frames—common after humid summers. Cosmetic updates are often planned before peak rental season, while functional repairs are prioritized after winter to restore comfort and durability in high-use living spaces.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Manistee often overlook the impact of humidity, choosing fabrics that aren’t moisture-resistant or skipping protective treatments. Starting projects during the busy summer season can cause delays. DIY attempts without proper ventilation or knowledge of local weather patterns may lead to mold or fading. Not consulting upholstery professionals or budgeting for seasonal maintenance can result in premature wear and recurring repairs.

Helpful?

In Manistee, fabric wear, fading, or sagging cushions suggest you need upholstering. If you notice loose joints, broken frames, or damaged springs, furniture repair is required instead. Persistent musty odors or visible mold from lake humidity may call for professional cleaning. When in doubt, consult a local upholstery specialist to assess whether the issue is cosmetic, structural, or related to moisture damage.
