"He did it while we were gone. I hired him to do the work and we left on vacation and when we came back, it was all done. My wife and I had met him before. He gave us an estimate on doing some counter work and his estimate was more than what we wanted to pay so we ended up doing it ourselves but we liked him. When we needed to get this other work done, we talked to him. He told us that he does it all; he does everything. He put the fence up for a couple grand, the shed is a 12 ft by 16 ft, two story shed so he painted that for $500.00. He removed the old driveway and put the new concrete and did the decorative side for about $8,000.00. Builders don't usually do the work themselves, they have others who do the work for them. Tim has a crew that does some things themselves and some things he jobs out. The fence came out flawless. Everybody was very pleased about the fence. My wife had staked out some ferns that she didn't want trampled down when they put the fence in and they did a good job about avoiding those. There were a couple of issues with the painting on the shed but as soon as I brought it to Tim's attention, he took care of it and made it look excellent. The concrete work that he did was superb but I would say that he had initially said that they would plant grass seed and restore the yard to the way it was before they started. Part of it was my problem because we had someone stay at the house while we were gone and we asked her to do some watering and my neighbors tell me that she didn't really do it daily like she was supposed to and the grass didn't grow. I told Tim that I was disappointed and he took care of it.show more

"Work was done thoroughly and extremely well. Crews cleaned up completely each evening. Everything from exterior plants to a flag holder to house numbers to lights were rehung exactly where they had been located previously. Plants were protected throughout. Window box had been rebuilt once, but not adequately, so Halm and Perkins had to re-do the work of another company. Halm and Perkins did the job as it should have been done originally, assuring the box would not once again rot from improper roof slope for drainage and a lack of ice and water shields. High-quality materials and paints were used for the entire job. The on-site crew was considerate and pleasant. My neighbors even commented on how polite, respectful, and kind Joe and Jonathan were to interact with. Each piece of the work was discussed in advance and detail and changes to the original scope of work were negotiated transparently with the pros and cons of various choices and all costs well explained. The company was also extremely accommodating about changes to the scope of work and flexible in working around other crews who were performing work at the house in tandem. Billing was detailed and consistent with the original proposal (same with all of the modifications to the original to which each party agreed).
