"Scott came out soon after I contacted the company. I was given an estimate. After I agreed to the estimate I was given a date . The company came out on time and did the concrete repair to my chimney and a brick wall. My husband went up on our roof to check out the work. He said that Scott did a very professional job."

"Had a huge maple stump in the front yard, from the time I got the estimate till the job was done was about 4 days. They came out and got started on it right away, worked straight through until it was finished. Leveled it out and cleaned the yard and driveway that my wife didn’t even notice the stump was gone. I’m going to pick up some seeds tomorrow to fill in the grass, I’m not including a finished photo because it’s absolutely pouring outside right now. But the job that was done above my expectations. "I was impressed with Chuck from Shamrock Chimney. He was realistic in his discussion and went thru various options from converting to a gas fireplace to wood inserts. Drilling into brick or mortar requires the use of a masonry drill bit. Masonry drill bits appear similar to standard drill bits except for the leading tip of the bit. The tip has a bulky carbide arrow-shaped end slightly larger than the rest of the bit shaft. Standard or high-speed drill bits designed for making holes in wood or metal don’t have the ruggedness or design shape you need to drill into brick. They may not go through the brick at all, and if they do, they’re more likely to overheat, crack, or dull before you finish drilling.

While painting can certainly change the look of a chimney, you should think twice about giving your brick chimney the old landlord special.

Painting brick is porous, meaning it’s full of tiny holes that can soak up moisture. Those holes also allow it to dry, though. So, when you paint it, you trap any moisture inside, providing an opportunity for mold, mildew, and water damage.

Paint also shows wear faster than naked brick. This means that once you paint a brick surface, you’ll have to keep painting it to maintain a clean look. A paint job is also harder to undo on brick because of its porous nature. Once you paint it, it’s hard to go back without some serious power washing—another added cost.

Brick is the closest choice when seeking to capture the timeless look of stone with a more practical and budget-friendly option. When comparing stone versus brick siding, the price range of $200,000 to $400,000 for average brick home construction is dramatically lower compared to the cost of building a stone home. If you'd like to keep the stone aesthetic without the cost, stone veneer and manufactured stone are both less expensive than real stone.

You can use a regular drill to make pilot holes for gutter brackets in the wooden fascia board around the top of your house, but it’s not the best tool for brick. Instead, you’ll need a heavy-duty power tool like a hammer drill with a carbide tip bit.

A fireplace is, by definition, an enclosed space where you burn wood or other fuel for the purpose of generating light and heat.
