"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

We were constantly contacting Greg to get updates because he was never there. My husband had to most of the general contractor duties including communications with inspectors. We had damage to our property outside of the project and to our neighbor's yard. Not to mention his crew was seen by my neighbor and her elderly mother urinating in their yard! The quality of work is not to par at all we already have a cracked garage floor and haven't even go to park in it yet, oh and it floods and so does our basement with the way they installed the gutters."

No, you don’t need a garbage disposal for a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without a garbage disposal. However, the two appliances pair well and are often installed together. It is rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn’t have a garbage disposal, but that doesn’t mean it's not possible. Each appliance serves its own purpose. 

Depending on your available time and skillset, there are some aspects of dishwasher repair you can DIY. Remember that dishwashers use water and electricity, which can cause potentially hazardous situations. However, there are some things you can do to reduce your overall repair cost, such as:

  • Cleaning the spray arm

  • Unclogging the float

  • Replacing the door gasket

  • Cleaning the door filter

  • Adjusting the door latch

If the dishwasher is in working condition, start and run a complete cycle with nothing inside. Let it drain and sit overnight before removing the hoses. In theory, it should effectively drain.
