Integrated solar energy solutions: photovoltaic, solar-thermal, battery storage and heat pumps. We are not tied to any specific PV manufacturer and will source the best solution for your location and situation. Solar energy is no longer idealists' domain - it makes solid financial sense. Whether your goal is to minimize the time until your solar installation is paid off, or you want to ride out the Zombie apocalypse in comfortable energy self-sufficiency, we have the perfect solution for your location and building use. Contrary to popular perception, year-round self-sufficiency can be reasonably achieved in the Midwest. We have close relationships to vendors of weekly and seasonal energy storage systems which will keep lights and heat on year-round.

At Peak we will always strive for 5 star service by surpassing the standard service for our clients and community; by providing you with our NATE Certified Technicians and a cost-effective maintenance plan for both your heating and cooling equipment.

"So let’s start with the fact that they quoted us a 3-5 day installment… it was over SIX WEEKS! When they came for a quote we told them the biggest reason we are switching to forced air heat is to get heat on the level that you walk into the house because our daughter’s room is down there and it’s the coldest area in the house, they said it wouldn’t be a problem. After they got the furnace in they informed us that they might have to take some of the ceiling tiles down in the basement for the duct work we said that’s fine no problem and asked if they needed us to do it, they said no they will handle it. They showed up for a few hours every day but not much got accomplished. Then they took down the ceiling tiles and when I say “took down” you would think they took them down and set them in a pile nicely right? Nope! They literally ripped them off the ceiling and dropped them on all our things! Couches we had down there everything! They left the biggest mess I had ever seen! In our daughter’s room she had muddy foot prints on her white comforter, they spilled her trash and stepped on it, and she had saw dust and insulation on and in her bed! They didn’t order the parts they needed until they needed it so there was another couple weeks. Then they said they were putting the house on a 2 zone system which is great, but I said if they do that and put the lower level with the highest level floor wouldn’t that be bad because the upper level is really hot and the lower level is really cold they said that’s not how it would go and the two lower levels would be on the same zone and the highest level would be by itself. Well after MONTHS of not being able to figure out why our daughters room was still cold we called them and said that we need to get it inspected and they have one chance to fix the stuff (the registers wouldn’t fit in the holes they cut, the ones that did fit the duck work fell out because they cut them wrong, daughters room still freezing etc.) so they come over and the tech was super nice and couldn’t believe the work they did and didn’t do! Ended up putting a damper in for the heat on the lower level and highest level. We still don’t know how that will work in the summer when we need air upstairs and not downstairs! So they came and “fixed” that. Then they reached out to my fiancé and told him that it was our fault that the ceiling tiles were like that because it not their job to do demo to put the duct work in … even though they never told us in advance to do it and after we offered to do it and they said no! The electrician came and told us that they would be back to clean up the mess because that’s unacceptable, weeks later however we just paid for a dump truck and did it ourselves! We will see if this even passes the inspection but if it doesn’t I don’t even want them back here to destroy other things! Look at the pictures and you can decide for yourselves but I wish I never called them it was a horrible experience lots of work and frustration on our part! Hire at your own risk!"

"The roofing people he subcontracted to worked amazing. They were clean, professional, and timely and polite. In the contract signed, the homeowner (myself) was suppose to choose the front door, but the door I chose was not in stock at Lowes, so the contractor chose a door for me and installed it. I now have a front door with large clear windows, what I had specifically told him I did not want. He made several decisions that permanently affected my home (drilling holes through the brick) without discussing it with me first. He did not finish installing the garage door, left tools, and said they needed a part. After 2 months of waiting, I called him to see what his timeline was for finishing the project, and he said that he would install the automatic door opener for $125 more, but that he was done working on our house. The contract stated that he was suppose to install an energy star furnace, which he did not do, he chose a non-energy star furnace for our house. He was paid for completing the contract by the granting agency, but did not do several of the small tasks on the project, such as tuck and pointing the bricks around the windows. He was hired specifically because he was certified to remove the lead from our house. He did not read the lead report in detail until halfway through the lead removal process when he found he was doing more than was necessary. Overall I am disappointed in the work. I felt that I was promised more than I got, and I also feel that if my husband was the person in charge, we would have received more respect."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, a dehumidifier and air conditioner can be used simultaneously in a home. A dehumidifier can bolster an air conditioner’s efficiency. Typically, a dehumidifier is used when the air conditioner alone cannot keep a home’s humidity levels at a comfortable indoor humidity level, which should, ideally, be between 30% and 50%.

There are several steps you can take to prevent your AC drain from clogging. This includes cleaning the drain line at least every three months, changing the filter every one to three months, and getting your AC serviced annually. Also, if any problems arise with your AC, hire an HVAC technician to deal with them ASAP.

It’s never a good idea to run your AC without a filter, even just for a night. The filter defends your HVAC system from the dust, dirt, debris, and other grime in your home. Without a filter, those contaminants are more likely to get inside your system and potentially damage it.

Evaporator coils in HVAC systems typically last around 10 to 15 years. However, their life span can be longer or shorter based on factors like the frequency of your HVAC system usage, whether regular maintenance is performed, and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance, such as HVAC system cleaning and coil inspection, can extend the durability and efficiency of your evaporator coil.

A new air conditioner capacitor will cost less than replacing the entire air conditioner system. While a capacitor itself will cost between $8 and $25, paying a professional to replace an AC capacitor will cost $180 on average. It’s not safe to replace an air conditioner capacitor on your own.
