"Eric did a great job on both my garage and house metal roofs which included a lot of sheeting underneath. Was very good at communicating and got the work done quickly at a great price. Highly recommend!"

"Zach Ericksen in Escanaba, MI replaced my rubber roof, repaired some wood rot and fixed a leak on my dormer. He was very courteous, quick, and professional. He provided all licenses and proof of insurance and cleaned up all the mess before he left. He provided different options, quotes and came $600 under the quoted price. My experience with Zach leads me to believe he is a very honest and trust worthy person. He will be my first call for roofing concerns in the future. I highly recommend Zach. ----Dan Seronko Gladstone, MI"

"
Beginning with the first contact with Mike Bresler, the sales consultant, we were amazed at how carefully he inspected the details of our roof and attic ventilation. He was very helpful in answering all of our questions. Seeing a variety of shingle samples helped us decide on just the perfect choice for our home. The friendly, professional crew arrived promptly each day until the job was done. They were exceptionally dedicated to the job throughout the day. When asked, they provided complete answers to any questions we had about the process. This business knows roofs and ventilation systems far better than any of the other roofing contractors we met with. Our neighbors have given us many compliments on our beautiful blue shingle roof. We couldn't be happier!

"He gave me a quote and did exactly what he said he was going to do. He was clear about to procedure and what he needed to do. It was nice and clean after the service, I didn't have to do any touch ups or clean ups. I was so happy with the results, I hired him to complete resurface my driveway."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

While a few icicles on your roof are standard, a large accumulation can be a sign of a bigger problem, such as poor insulation. This is particularly true if you are also dealing with ice dams. If you have numerous large icicles, it is recommended to have a roofing contractor diagnose potential insulation issues and create a plan to solve them.

Underlayment is required by building code, so any roof installed without it is technically against code. The underlayment acts as the second layer of defense against water, so installing a roof without underlayment means a much higher risk of roof leaks. You’ll have the best chance of avoiding roof leaks if you install drip edge flashing covered by underlayment, and then install your roofing material over that.

Yes, many chimney professionals offer cap installations to prevent debris buildup and animal entry.

The lifespan of an impact-resistant roof averages 30 to 50 years, depending on the quality of the shingles and the amount of wear and tear it endures. Some high-quality shingles may last even longer. For comparison, a standard asphalt roof lasts about 20 years, so choosing an impact-resistant option can increase your roof's lifespan by 50% or more, particularly in regions prone to extreme weather.
