"I was having a hard time getting someone to remove our deck. Tracey from Regal contacted me on Tuesday and the deck was removed by noon on Thursday. They did an excellent job of cleaning up going above and beyond what I expected. I will definitely use them again for future demo work. Profession/courteous crew! Tracey and crew returned as promised this spring to remove 2 retaining walls, 1 additional deck and a 8x50s concrete patio on a crazy steep sandy hill. After everything was removed Dan who is amazing on those machines hauled in 60 yards of clay to pack on top of the sand so we can have new decking installed. Excellent company and crew to work with. I highly recommend contacting them first. You will not be disappointed. They deserve more than 5 stars!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The cost to build a second-story deck averages $4,800, though the actual price could range as low as $420 to upwards of $16,000. While labor costs range between 35% and 50% of the total project cost, the materials and complexity of design will ultimately lead you to save or spend more money on this home addition.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

No, termites do not eat Trex or any other composite decking brand. Termites eat cellulose, of which composite decking like Trex contains very little compared to natural wood. This feature can help justify the higher Trex decking costs if you live in an area with abundant termites.

When sourced responsibly, the most sustainable wood decking options are timber trees like redwood, pine, Douglas fir, Nootka cypress, and Western red cedar. These tree species are fast-growing with low carbon emissions. Plus, most timber woods make durable deck materials because of their resistance to rot and decay over time.

Trex states that its Trex decking is an eco-friendly composite material made of 95% recycled or reclaimed materials (including plastic and wood), making it a sustainable brand of choice. According to the company, Trex is one of the largest plastic bag recyclers in the U.S., with each 500-square-foot Trex deck containing about 140,000 recycled plastic bags.
