"Contacted primary handyman to install laminate flooring on two staircases in my home. We set up a date for him to come out to give me a quote. He ended up calling me the day of the quote having to cancel. He stated that an emergency came up at one of his jobsites and he wasn’t able to leave. We rescheduled and he was able to come out a week later. He told me he would get back with me with a quote in a few days. I had to contact him a week and a half later for the quote. He said he still needed more time to put it together but should have it to me in a couple days. Primary handyman did send me a quote and I excepted. He said he could start the second week in December. I agreed to the quote he gave me which was a reasonable price. He then sent me a contract for me to sign and to pay a 50% deposit. After I signed the contract and paid my 50% deposit he said he would be contacting me right before the start date. When he contacted me (December 2nd) he said he was behind on work with three different jobs due to COVID-19. As a nurse I understood the impact COVID-19 was having and businesses so I agreed to reschedule. I had already bought all my flooring and supplies. Primary handyman told me he had nothing scheduled in January and would be able to complete the job then. He said the only thing he had going on was a vacation in the beginning of January and that he had nothing else lined up. He assured me there would be no problems getting the job done. So we agreed on January 25. On January 21st I messaged him to see if everything was still a go since I had not heard from him. He responded back “Hello, yes we are. I will giving you a call this evening to go over a few things.” Primary handyman did call me in the evening and told me that he will not be able to do the job. He said that he had asked somebody else to do it because he was so backed up and work . (Never notified me that another person was doing the job he said he’d be doing). He said this person just called him 30 minutes ago and backed out. Not only did he say that he had to cancel but that he wouldn’t be able to do my staircases because he is so overwhelmed with work and would have to refund my money. I asked him what happened to him not having anything lined up for the month of January? He stuttered and said well I didn’t but then I did. Sounds like something better came along and he didn’t want my business. My estimate was in November and he has wasted months of my time. Now I’m back at ground Zero trying to find somebody to put in my flooring. I suppose all the signs were there along and I should have followed my gut that he was not reliable."

Shower glass services FAQs

The cost to repair a window is $400 on average, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,500, depending on the window size, the broken part, and the window type. Broken glass and window frames are typically the most expensive window repairs, while minor fixes like repairing the track, seal, and sash are more affordable. Other cost factors include:

  • Number of panes

  • Window material

  • Accessibility

  • Labor costs

  • Emergency window repair

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

The average cost to install glass block windows is about $710, ranging from $460 to $1,000, depending on the size and design of the window, installation type, and location. Different styles of glass blocks also impact the cost:

  • Clear glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Colored glass blocks: $25–$40 per block

  • Acrylic glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Wavy glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Alpha glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Ice glass blocks: $20–$35 per block

  • Diamond glass blocks: $20–$75 per block

  • Frosted glass blocks: $30–$35 per block

The type of window repairs required significantly impacts the project cost. It’s always best to hire a local window repair company for this kind of work. The most common window parts that need repair include:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Replace window screen: $140–$480

Stained glass window repairs cost about $300 on average. Typical prices range from $65 to $800, depending on the size, location, repairs needed, and whether you need to fully or partially replace the window. Full stained glass window replacements can cost $700 to $5,000 per panel. The repair type also impacts repair costs:

  • Crack: $100–$300

  • Faded glass: $100–$300

  • Regrouting: $200–$500

  • Cement replacement: $200–$500

  • New window frame: $200–$500

  • Cleaning: $300–$600

  • Resoldering joints: $500–$1,500

  • Replacing reinforcing bars: $700–$3,000
