"Steve and his crew were extremely good to work with. Steve reviewed multiple home projects in person and made suggestions for what things might need repairs to pass inspection. Todd was outstanding in completing projects and his attention to details, work experience, and showing up to complete our jobs was greatly appreciated."

"Excellent design and super sturdy. The inspector was very impressed. John thoroughly listened to what I wanted and suggested a composite instead of wood and am so glad he did. It was initially more expensive but no expense to maintain! Took longer than expected but if you're not in a hurry John will do it right."

"I run a commercial building, and it was empty when I bought it. They helped me design and build four offices within the property. Very knowledable of codes, which helped the project run smoothely. I would certainly recommend him based on my experience. I also used him in 2007 for some major remodeling on a forclosed home that my daughter bought. He did a fantastic job then, and I was thankful he was still doing business around here when this job came up, because he was the first person I thought of."

Architects questions, answered by experts

In the United States, architects must be licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia before being allowed to practice or seek business. Licensing requirements vary state-to-state, but overall the architect must be educated, attain a certain level of experience, submit to and pass an examination, and register as an architect. Find out if your architect is licensed using Angi’s contractor licensing search tool

When planning a new build, meet with an architect as your first step. Architects will often work with specific contractors and can ensure the contractor on your project is qualified and experienced to handle your build. Both the architect and the contractor should be involved with the project from the early stages, but the process may be smoother when you start with an architect.

A structural engineer's report provides a professional assessment of a property's structural condition. It typically includes an evaluation of the foundation, key structural elements like roof trusses, floor joists, studs, beams, and rafters. The report will also contain a detailed description of the engineer's findings, often supported by photographs, and provide recommendations to correct any identified issues. Depending on the scope of the inspection, it might also include an assessment of property drainage, potential issues from environmental conditions like extreme weather or tree placement, and an estimated time and cost for any recommended repairs.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.

Cathedral ceilings make a statement in your home, but at the cost of your attic space. Normal attics are wide open, which allows warm air to move around and exit your home. Because of this, cathedral ceilings make your home less energy efficient and put your ceiling at risk of venting issues if you’re not careful. They also reduce your attic storage space, potentially cause an echo, and even make it harder to change a light bulb.
