"Easy to schedule, arrived on time, communicated well. We had 9.5 years on our water tank, but I never drained it. They showed me how easy it is to drain and clean it out to get longer life out of the new tank. Should be able to get longer life out of this one."

"Services: Unclog drain, Repair toilet, Repair pipe. // Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness // Haines was recommended to me saying they were good at their job. I called them Monday, Feb 15th about a clogged drain, they came out Tues Feb 16th at the time I was told they would be there, which was great! They were there from 3:30 pm to 6:50 pm. Some repairs had to be made to the laundry tub drain and my toilet had to be lifted so they could access that portion of the drain. After the toilet was replaced, the shut-off valve leaked, so I asked them to replace that also. The work that was done created quite a mess... BUT, when they were finished you would never know that. Everything was cleaned up so well and disinfected, it looked nice and smelled nice. The workmen were very professional and knowledgeable about their job. I will add this company to my contacts as a reliable source for repairs."

"We previously had secured the services of this company to install a sump pump and then a back-up sump when conditions warranted. We met with Joe DiTrapani, Jr who immediately impressed us with his promptness, phone updates and communication, knowledge and his professionalism. He did what he had promised in a minimum of intrusion to our family, and at the price he quoted. Recently we encountered a plumbing problem where our kitchen sinks were plugged causing back-ups and the inability to use the sinks without waiting for the clog to subside. We decided to call this firm again. The set up an appointment for the next day for between 1-3:00PM. Approximately 11:30AM I received a call from Joseph DiTrapani Sr, who indicated that they had gotten a previous job completed earlier and would it be an imposition to our schedule to come a bit earlier. We agreed yes and at the appointed time he and his apprentice Adam showed up ready to work. First thing we noticed was their respect for our home as they donned cloth slippers over their shoes. They then discussed with us the symptoms we had encountered. Although this was primarily the kitchen sinks and disposal, they also thoroughly checked the plumbing in the rest of the house for any indication of current or future problems. When satisfied none existed, they expedited the repairs to the kitchen sinks. Once again they respected our home by bringing in tarps, towels, and buckets to prevent any water damage to our cabinets and home. In what seemed like only minutes (but in reality longer) the clogs were cleared, the drains working properly, and the area cleaned. It should be noted that I had already cleaned the traps and done things a laymen normally would, however we observed that the clog was rather extensive farther down in the system, and something we would not have been able to ascertain. Their expertise identified this area expeditiously. When it came to payment, the charge was exactly as quoted and even though we thought they deserved more for that "extra mile" they provided, Mr. Joseph DiTrapani Sr declined our offer. This firm reminds me of the companies of my childhood in the 50's and 60's. They are professional, courteous, knowledgeable and above all else a company where their word is their bond. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Because of our repeated experiences with them, we have no problem considering them now our family plumbers"

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.
It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.
In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.
Applying drain cleaner is a common DIY solution to clogged drains, but it can be extremely harmful to your pipes and lead to corrosion and leaks. It is almost always better to try snaking a clog than using a drain cleaner, but the best solution is to hire a professional plumber. They can locate the clog and gauge the severity using a camera system and then decide if using a plumber’s snake, auger, or drain cleaner is the best option to remove the clog and limit damage to your plumbing system.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
