At 20 years of age, Dan was especially young as upholsterers go. As the reputation of Dan’s excellent craftsmanship spread, more and more people were making the decision to bring their fine furniture to him. In response to the high demand, Dan together with his wife, Linda, opened up their first shop in Detroit. Afterwards, the Vanderlips moved to their well-known location on Whittier, and bought out their largest competitor, A & C Upholstery. One move later, Vanderlip Upholstery is now located on Harper in St. Clair Shores where they have been since 1997.
