"Jed came out to help with a large tree that had been damaged during a storm. He did a fabulous job of dropping limbs without making a big mess and made sure to clean up after. He did the same thing for our neighbor. This person really knows how to drop a tree exactly where he wants it to land."

"I interviewed a number of contractors; all seemed right for the job. I went with Arbor Tech because: I liked the front man that came out to the site for the estimate; very professional and I could tell he knew the business since I had some very tricky trees to come down, I liked the mom & pop conversation and felt this company would work with me to the end as changes took place and they did without gouging, I liked the price, I feel I got a lot more value than what I paid for and it was within my budget. I liked that they cut the logs to size, took away the wood I did not want and put the wood I did want where I wanted it. And, they cleaned up nicely, I liked their advice and they let me hang out while they worked as long as I stayed out of the way. Thanks Guys!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.

Transporting a fully-grown tree requires heavy equipment, typically specialized for the task. A tree spade is a truck-mounted tool that removes the tree from the ground in one location, transports it, and places it in a new hole in a new location. A combination of mechanized shovels and lifts is necessary to move very large trees, and the exact tools often depend on location and the surrounding area.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

Stump grinding consists of removing the visible part of the stump, but the roots remain intact. Depending on the tree and root system, the roots may still grow after stump grinding. If you are concerned about root growth and damage, you may want to consider having a stump removed completely.

Lightning can cause massive damage, fires, and openings for other threats like bugs or fungal diseases. Barring any large fires or explosions, it’s difficult to tell how much damage a lightning strike has done until after a thorough inspection. Contact local authorities immediately if lightning strikes a tree in your yard and it causes a fire or explosion.
