Small jobs welcome

"The Lush Lawn company sprayed for spiders and other bugs around my home. I haven't seen any around yet, so I think it working out so far. I'll try them again and possibly write a better review. I recommend trying them. Their customer service was really good. Very helpful in setting up a appointment for me. I'll give them another try next year for sure!"

"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

"Chris was awesome! He takes pride in his work. He is very detailed oriented about his work. If you’re not happy, he’s not happy. He works by himself is very quick about getting things done. He loves what he does and that goes a long way for me. I was the first one to hire him in my subdivision. After he installed my system he installed my next door neighbor system and then went across the street and installed another system. After everything said and done he actually did nine systems in my subdivision. If you want Chris to install a sprinkling system in this year, you better call him NOW, His phone number is 517 303 9070 Don’t think about it, just do it. Great value. You won’t be sorry."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

If your dog always does their business in the yard, daily poop pick-up makes sense. The nitrogen in the poop can start making its way into the grass and surrounding soil quickly, a rain shower can send the waste into waterways, and less poop lying around means less chance of stepping on it accidentally.

To prepare your yard for river rocks, smaller rocks may require laying landscape fabric to keep the stones from sinking into the ground while encouraging proper water drainage. You should also clear the land of weeds and larger boulders and, in some cases, test the density of the soil to ensure it can handle the weight.

This depends on how many leaves there are. Mowing over dry and crisp leaves with a bagging attachment saves most homeowners a lot of time. If you have a smaller lawn and few leaves to mulch, you can put the leaves into a stand-alone mulcher resembling a wood chipper and collect the mulch from a hopper. This prevents having to do multiple passes with a mower.

If you are xeriscaping a lawn from scratch, your best bet for preparing the lawn is to work with a xeriscaping specialist in your area. The most common first step to making the transformation, however, will be to remove the turfgrass from your lawn. The subsequent steps will often include amending the soil to support new plants and installing low-drip or drip irrigation systems.

Yes, you can absolutely make your own mulch, and there are a few ways to go about it. First, you can lay down pine needles or mulched leaves if you’re mulching in the fall. In the spring and summer, you can use mulched grass clippings. Alternatively, you can lay down a few layers of newspaper in your garden and gently wet the paper to keep it in place.
