"I can't recommend Doty enough.  I know it was hard to work with our extremely limited options for locating the ductwork, but our guy (Jason) was great.  He confirmed locations for everything and our building inspector said it was the best workmanship he'd ever seen.  Despite being very busy right now, Gary shuffled things around to get our finish done in time for our occupancy inspection. They showed up every time they were expected to, on time, and cleaned up when they were done.  When they had trouble getting our control board working with the furnace (manufacturer's issue), they got a replacement and installed it the same day, staying until 7pm to get it done for me.

Because the system is geothermal, I qualify for a 30% rebate from the federal government on the entire price (via tax refund), which effectively makes the cost ~$23,000.  Oh, and my electric bill is $32/month to heat the entire house (4100 ft2 of conditioned space, including the basement) to 70 degrees; 80 during the two weeks our drywaller was mudding."

"Brandon and his crew were awesome. They did their work efficiently and took care to make sure all of our needs were met. Brandon was excellent at communication and his price was very reasonable. He even went the extra yard and cleaned up, and did repairs, caused by another contractor's crew. He was also able to finish the encapsulation of our crawl space at a fraction of other estimates. Brandon and his crew, Tyler and Justin, are one of those rare finds in the business world. They will be my go to in the future."

"I am a new customer with Service Professor, Inc. as of May 2021. In each of three service calls for routine system checks of my HVAC, plumbing, and furnace systems, I couldn't have been more satisfied with the professionalism of the individual tradesmen or with the customer service communication provided by friendly and patient office staff. This review is being posted especially to praise the exceptional routine service call provided by John Courtney on 10/11/2021. John presented as being a good listener and one who genuinely enjoyed his work and serving others. For example, he listened carefully to my questions and responded with detailed information that I could understand easily. And, after I commented to John about my previous positive interactions with Service Professor, Inc. tradesmen and with customer service staff, John responded by stating he has worked in the heating and cooling trade for 12 years and felt very fortunate, as a newer employee, to be able to work for an organization such as Service Professor that places caring and quality customer service communication among its most important priorities. I hope my comments encourage anyone seeking HVAC, plumbing, or furnace routine service or repair work to not hesitate to contact Service Professor."

"Our relationship with All Star Mechanical began with Chris coming out to diagnose my AC problem. He tested the system and diagnosed it as low on refrigerant likely do to a leak. We asked to get a quote on replacing the AC and the entire HVAC system. The furnace was a 25 year old Trane. The air filter was 1in thick and struggled to blow through a non-MERV filter, and I wanted cleaner air for the health of my family, especially since wildfires aren't going away anytime soon. We also wanted a whole house humidifier to assist the Vornado units we run 24/7 in the winter. Larry presented us with a variety of options for upgrading my HVAC system, not trying to sell me a system too large and expensive for our needs or climate, then explaining how everything works and how it works together to make our home efficient, safe, clean, and comfortable. The installation team was fantastic. They were scheduled for a 2 day installation and over performed installing the entire system in one day. Matthew and the 2 Nicks were great! Within 2 hours of installing the General Aire MAC high efficiency air cleaner we noticed the air felt and smelled cleaner, inspite of the poor air advisory warning for that day. Finally Chris buttoned the system up completly by running updated thermostat wiring and relocated my thermostat so the new system is compatible with my ADT Z-Wave ADC -T2000 monitored thermostat (my request)! Throughout the entire job, Larry stayed in touch, either by email, phone, or text to make sure everything met or exceeded our expectations. They are definitely Allstars!"

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

Yes, installing a central vacuum system typically adds value to your home. The ease of use, longevity, and superior suction power of a central vacuum system can add up to $2,000 to your home’s value if you decide to sell. Potential buyers may consider the central vacuum a perk to purchasing your home.
