"I had 20 windows, 2 skylights and 4 entry doors to clean. One side of the house was particularly disgusting due to sun, wind and the tree line. Shauna and Josh scrubbed all the windows efficiently by working together on the inside and outside; two windows required a 40 foot ladder. All the screens were cleaned as well. It looks like someone turned on the lights when they finished! They were personable, friendly and I will have them back again next year!

Window Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The type of cleaning requested will change the total price you pay. Be sure to specify the type of cleaning you need when hiring a new cleaning service. Different approaches to cleaning change the price, such as:

  • Standard cleaning: $75–$175 per visit

  • Deep cleaning: $200–$400 per visit

  • Move-out cleaning: Up to $500

  • Event cleaning: $100–$500

Clean the outside of your home at least once a year. If you live in an area with salty sea air, high levels of pollen, or an abundance of leaves in the fall, it's helpful to wash it at least two times a year. Frequent cleanings will allow you to remove debris and pests before they flourish into infestations, or cause mold and mildew.

The best homemade cleaning solution for windows is one gallon of warm, distilled or bottled water mixed with five to ten drops of liquid dish soap. This is what professional window cleaners typically use when they make their cleaning solutions. Using bottled or distilled water will help avoid hard water stains after cleaning, and the soap will cut through grease, smudges, and debris on your glass.

Long-handled telescopic brushes are the best way to clean the outside of a house without a pressure washer. There are even special attachments for cleaning the outside of windows. Use a gentle cleaning solution for both the roof and siding to avoid harming the finishes. Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly with a garden hose after scrubbing.

The easiest way to remove window decals is to soak the area in hot, soapy water. Let it sit for 15 minutes before scraping it with a plastic scraper or the edge of a credit card. You can also remove window decals with white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or applying heat from a hairdryer or steam cleaner.
