"We had a great experience with Shamrock. My husband is an architect and pretty much knew what needed to be done to remove a wood burning stove from our fireplace and restore it to a working fireplace before anyone arrived to give us a quote. We had several contractors come by and try to tack on extra unnecessary add ons using scare tactics. Gary from Shamrock came and not only was he honest about what needed to be done he also assessed that we needed some repair work done to our chimney which my husband already knew had to be done. We were very pleased with the removal of the wood burning stove , the chimney repair and his promptness and professionalism. Honesty goes a long way especially when you are unaware of what the clients knowledge of the situation is. I would highly recommend and ask for Gary. "

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

With regular maintenance, a brick chimney can last 50 to 100 years. However, the various parts of the chimney—including the liner, mortar, and flashing—tend to have shorter lifespans. For example, most chimney liners last between 15 and 25 years. Meanwhile, mortar lasts 20 to 30 years before it requires repointing or tuckpointing.

In some aspects, yes, new wood stoves are better than old ones. For example, today’s EPA emission limits for wood-burning stoves are much lower than they were several decades ago. Stoves that meet these stricter standards produce less air pollution, reduce fire risks, and decrease your risk of inhaling harmful particles.

Yes. It’s okay to leave a pellet stove on overnight, and these stoves can provide 24 to 48 hours of warmth from one ignition. However, you should practice proper pellet stove maintenance, like cleaning the burn pot before each use, deep cleaning the unit at least once per year, and running the fan when the stove is lit.

Gas-powered fireplaces seem to be the most desirable type for homebuyers, per a Redfin report on homebuying trends. That said, any fireplace that has been maintained well and is in safe, working condition could be a draw for buyers, regardless of whether it uses wood logs, propane, or electricity as fuel.
