"I can’t say enough how impressed we were with Gutters by Design. Our house is small, a fixer-upper, and not near their base, but Trey and his team not only showed up, but were absolutely phenomenal through every stage of the process—from showing us the product firsthand, to designing a gutter system most effective for our needs, to explaining the cost breakdown in detail, to the actual installation. What was especially striking—and what really sets Trey apart from every other contractor we’ve worked with—was his thorough professionalism, punctuality, and clear, prompt, courteous communication. We had to be out of town when the work was done, and Trey was in communication about where they were at in the process, and shared photos of the work at finish, so we could feel confident in the outcome. Trey is that rarity: not only a contractor you can rely on to do exactly what he promises, on time, and deliver the best possible quality, but a true gem of a person, honorable, generous, and kind. Because of our rock-solid faith in Trey, we inquired if he knew of anyone who did masonry work, since we had a chimney to repair, had been ghosted by one mason we paid, and couldn’t get other contractors to call us back. Trey connected us with his uncle, with whom he works with on a wide range of jobs, and we’ve been very glad to hire them to repair our chimney, refinish our decks and help us solve a window leak. We can’t recommend Trey highly enough; he and his team have been true godsends."

"Highly recommended. Jose and Cesar were great. They were reliable and their work was excellent. They completely remodeled our condo including 4 bathrooms, floors, fireplace/hearth, etc. It was a big job and they worked with us to make sure everything came out exactly the way we wanted. The cost was very reasonable."

"My job was extremely small, just repairing squirrel damage to the flashing around our chimney. They were extremely prompt in responding and did a great job for an extremely reasonable price. I am very appreciative."

"Brendan did a great job on assembling four pieces wood furniture. He had to construct a wood part that was missing from the materials. It turned out to be rather complex work and we appreciated his attention to detail. Hope we can work with him again!"

"Please be cautious in regards to hiring this contractor. He will provide a contract for both parties to sign, but once the job was completed he requested additional compensation for the work performed and increased the material expenses. I needed to seek legal counsel."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Dark academia is more of an interior decorating style than it is a type of architecture, but it calls on themes prevalent in gothic architecture. Part of the appeal of dark academia is that you can achieve the look and feel without renovating or remodeling your home. Instead, you can switch to a dark color palette and introduce metal, natural wood furniture, plaid decor, old books, and gothic decor to get the look and feel just right.

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.

The country's most famous Neoclassical architecture appears in major government buildings and college campuses. The White House is unmistakably the most famous example, though the Capitol Building and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello are also iconic uses of the design.

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.
