Dave swung by yesterday and did a great job at fixing the problem I was having with a couple of jets that were no longer working. Yet he didn’t just fix that. He sorted out another problem or two with the hot tub because he took the time to look the whole tub over. His preventative actions were GREATLY appreciated. Were he not so thorough the lights that needed replacing would have caused system failure down the line. THANK YOU DAVE! In addition, most of the work he did fell under warranty so I was happy about that. Having Mainely Tubs sell and service your hot tub is a no brainer. Dave also stuck around and gave me a much needed education on best water maintenance practices going forward. 100% delighted with Dave and his professionalism and care and concern. Algae-related green hot tub water is generally safe to use, as algae aren't usually harmful to your health. However, if the conditions in the hot tub are hospitable to algae growth, they may also be hospitable to the growth of other types of microorganisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, bacteria that can cause hot tub rash, or Legionella bacteria, which can cause respiratory illness.

Where you drain a hot tub largely depends on local regulations, but you must not drain chemically treated water where it can damage the environment. Direct the water toward a sanitary sewer drain that will take it to a treatment facility. If your lawn has a dedicated drainage area that’s free from plants and foundations, you can likely drain it there. Avoid storm drains, as the hot tub water will enter waterways and could hurt aquatic life. Likewise, do not pour it out directly on any public land or where it can get into your neighbors’ property.
