"Job was started in the fall of 2017. It became to cold to work with siding, I was told that he would finish the job first thing in the spring of 2018. Spring came and went, summer came and went, here we are in the fall again. Finally showed up to finish the job on the third promised day. The quality of work done is appalling. crooked, cracked and broken siding, even a nail driven through the face of the siding. A ten year old could have done better. I wouldn't hire this idiot to dig a ditch"

It’s best to stick with lightweight cabinets, such as medium-density fiberboard, if you don’t have a wall stud to secure them to. Unless you’re attaching the cabinet to a flat board attached to wall studs, it’s best not to risk it with heavy cabinetry or contents. Solid wood cabinets and heavy dishware should be avoided if you cannot secure the cabinet to a wall stud. Either way, always check the weight on your wall anchors and be sure not to exceed it.

For kitchen cabinets, you can expect the installation process to take between a few days to a couple of weeks to complete. The time it takes to install new cabinets mainly depends on the number of cabinets, in addition to the installation space. For a smaller project, such as installing cabinets in a bathroom, you can expect that project to take a week or less, depending on the size of your bathroom. Your cabinet installation expert will be able to provide you with a realistic timeframe once you’ve decided on the scope of the project.

If you’re brave enough to tackle building your own cabinet bases, you’re brave enough to install them yourself. You’ll need a stud finder to get you started, but the installation will be a breeze if you’ve already done all the hard work to build the cabinet bases yourself. If you’re hanging upper cabinets, you’ll need a helper, though, to balance the weight of the cabinets and make the process easier.

While having an assistant to help ensure safety and to lend a hand is desirable, if someone isn't around to assist, you can install kitchen cabinets on your own. Normal kitchen cabinet installation starts with the upper wall cabinets. If you're working on your own, consider installing the bases first and building a temporary support structure on top of them to help you install the uppers.

Outdoor kitchens can quickly get expensive, but there are a few things you can do to help keep costs down, including the following:

  • You can build on an existing patio to reduce the cost of a new foundation.

  • Opt out of a sink and stick with a built-in propane or charcoal grill to save on utility line installation costs.

  • You can tackle the parts of the project that are DIYable, like finishing cabinets, installing fixtures, and building seating.

  • Keep your kitchen small and make a big impact with proper planning and upgrading the essential components instead.
