"I had a water leak that ruined 2 ceilings and a wall. It included both plaster and Sheetrock. The 3 men were very professional and did excellent work. Looks like new again. Removing latex paint before it dries is much easier and lowers the risk of damaging your shingles (more on that below). Simply spray the spot with a hose for one to two minutes to clear away the drying paint. In general, this is a good way to remove ugly stains from your roof without using chemicals.

Technically, mineral spirits are a type of paint thinner, so they can be used for the same purposes. In most cases, pure mineral spirits are preferable to other paint thinners. Still, if necessary, you can successfully use paint thinners for most of the same applications, such as thinning or cleaning oil paints.

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

In many cases, professionals can completely remove certain types of smoke damage from walls and ceilings, but it’s only possible if the damage is minor. For more extensive damage from major fires, you’ll likely need to replace the damaged materials entirely. Some items, like upholstered furniture, are much trickier to clean and might need to be replaced even if the smoke damage is minimal.

To remove paint from brick with vinegar, you can use the vinegar in much the same way you would paint stripper. However, vinegar needs significantly more time to soak into the paint. Apply the vinegar with a spray bottle, let it soak in, then scrub the paint's surface.
