"Had talked with paving contractors late last year. I had misplaced contact information and couldnt seem to find NE ABC on Home Advisor. However Jason was notified through Home Advisor that I was soliciting quotes and, to my delight, he contacted me. Price was in line with other comparable paving companies. Jason quoted cost for entire (private) road as well and worked with individual homeowners about specific needs for driveways. I gave him a 4 star overall rating because there were some scheduling issues. However, after discussing scheduling needs Jason stayed in communication and rest of the project went extremely well. Final paving job is awesome and I'm so glad to have worked with New England ABC."

"We had a dirt driveway, received multiple quotes to pave it. Decided on Joe Sparks team because of: 1. The prep process recommended for our driveway, to dig out the dirt and prepare the foundation for the asphalt putting several layers of crushed stone and level it. 2. The process to cut into the road. 3. The price. It took 7 weeks for them to show up, but it was worth the wait! What a great investment!! Excellent crew, efficient. Joe is a book of knowledge! You’ll first need to install a base underneath your pavers for extra stability and drainage. Otherwise, the pavers can sink into the ground, and you’ll have to reinstall them. Use a base gravel layer of 4 to 6 inches for walkways and 10 to 12 inches for driveways. Compact your gravel layer every 2 to 4 inches so it’s nice and solid. After you install your gravel base, apply a 1-inch layer of sand on top.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

If your new pavers look dull or unclean, it is likely due to efflorescence, a chalky, white powder that forms when lime in the pavers gets wet. This condition often resolves on its own, as rain will naturally wash it away within about a year. For faster results, you can use a pressure washer to clean the pavers. Alternatively, consider using cleaning products specifically designed to remove efflorescence or applying sulfuric acid crystals.

You can pour concrete over asphalt if it’s in good condition, thick, stable, and well-compacted. Concrete is more durable than asphalt and can extend the lifetime of your driveway without having to pay frequent asphalt driveway repair costs or replace it completely. 

But this is best reserved as a temporary solution based on budget restraints, as asphalt requires more frequent repairs and assessments than concrete. Once that concrete top is poured, it’ll be harder to accurately understand what’s happening beneath that layer, which could lead to more issues.
