"Jeremiah came out and tested the air and moisture and other items to determine if I had mold in my basement. After getting the test results there was evidence of mold and he recommended a company that provides a do it yourself kit for mold remediation. (Not cheap). After getting the items and realizing that there was more work, it would have been better for me to let my insurance company handle this as I do have coverage for mold/fungi. Though having a professional do the work is expensive, from what Jeremiah mentioned, it does not guarantee that the work will be complete or the source of the problem taken care of. He mentioned most companies will take care of the mold but not necessarily the cause of the mold. For this I would have to contact another company."

"Rick was very friendly and informative. We had him come in for a water system quote to remove iron and manganese from our water. He sampled our water, gave us the results immediately and also tested our air quality. He was so thorough and knowledgeable that we were able to close the deal on both a water treatment system and air purifiers that are already making a noticeable difference!"

"Matt did a home inspection, radon in air and water test for me. He was one of several businesses I called but I chose him for the job because I was impressed with his ability to communicate clearly and explain the process and answer my questions thoroughly. I found him to be conscientious, hard working and honest. The report was comprehensive with clear pictures and explanations. Top notch job!"

"The inspection report was the most thorough I have seen. The property was old and required a detailed and thorough inspection. Main Choice Inspections did a great job, gave a verbal report immediately after the inspection and provided a very detailed report with recommendations within a couple of days. Good value for money. I would highly recommend."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Some of the most common signs of sensitivity or illness from mold include congestion, eye irritation, difficulty breathing, and headaches. These symptoms may not lead to long-term health issues. However, some types of mold, like toxic black mold, can make you quite ill. You may experience respiratory issues, skin rashes, or neurological issues after exposure because of the toxicity. Infants, people with compromised immune systems, and older adults can suffer the most severe reactions.

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.

Common areas include insulation, flooring, ceilings, and siding in older buildings. Professionals identify potential risks.

Both mildew and mold come from fungi. One of the main differences is that mildew’s texture is dry and powdery, whereas mold is fuzzy and slimy. In addition, mildew isn’t very thick, while mold looks three-dimensional. Also, mildew is typically light in color, whereas mold comes in various shades, including green and black.

Yes, you can use bleach to remove mold from your aluminum siding, but it’s a powerful cleaning agent, so make sure it’s diluted with water first. A solution of one part bleach and four or five parts water works well. But it’s still a good idea to start by cleaning a small, inconspicuous area of the siding to make sure that the solution doesn’t cause damage or discoloration.
