"They did not find or even really look for the issue with the light fixture. They asked to check on many other things which were unrelated (since other lights on the same switch worked, there was no possibility of an issue with my main board or smoke detectors or other outlets, all of which they checked). My sense is they charge $69 to come in look all over to sell more services, rather than fixing the problem or doing work for the money paid. They have laminated marketing materials stating that a real diagnosis (not fixing) of a problem will cost between $300 and $700 or more, rather than the $69 quoted over the phone."

"Wilcox Electric did a great job for us installing an outdoor GFCI outlet and running a protected cord back to our electrical panel. Chris Doyle arranged for the service and inspection, and David Settimi did the actual installation. David had good ideas about how to place the outlet and wiring. I recommend them highly for electrical services. Outstanding service."

"Tri State was prompt—they had a tech out within hours when our 20-year-old HVAC broke down. The repair estimate was $800–$1,200, and they also sent a salesman, Mike, to discuss replacement. Mike was courteous and knowledgeable, but, when we sat down to review the quote, the sales process turned into a bad car-buying experience. They started at $34,000, then "discounted" to $29,300—$10,000 -$12,000 higher than other quotes for the exact same unit. Even factoring in their warranty, they remained $8,000–$10,000 overpriced. Mike also claimed they were a four-generation family-owned business, but I later found out they’re owned by Sila Services, a Goldman Sachs private equity firm—which feels misleading. To their credit, canceling was easy (though I hadn’t signed a financing agreement or put money down). Bottom line: Get multiple quotes. Their pricing was excessive, and the sales tactics felt manipulative."

"This was our second time hiring Hyman Electric, and we could not be happier. We brought them back to our house after they did a great job on a heavy-up last fall. Bill's team, which consists of Jeremy and Kevin, did a fantastic job with difficult conditions. This job required a lot of planning and problem solving as they tried to move power sources and install junction boxes. They were able to install lights in three locations where they did not exist. At at least one location, they even corrected a serious code error for the one of the boxes. Their work was very clean, which minimized the amount of collateral work needed (whenever you need to fish wire, expect a few dry wall holes to help get the wire where it needs to go). Wherever they cut drywall, they made sure to save the pieces and re-install them in the hole. Jeremy is extremely thorough, and he takes the time to consult us on some of the most important minor details. For example, when we asked to have a wall sconce box re-routed to a ceiling junction box for a chandelier, Jeremy made sure to consult with us on the placement of the box before installation. He also offered great ideas and options on the project. Though a seemingly small gesture, we recognize that lots of technicians might just go ahead and install a box where they think is the right location without seeking any input from the client or providing any advice. I strongly recommend Hyman Electric to friends and family without any reservation, and I will be sure to call them again in the future if I ever have additional electrical needs."

"They did an excellent job of installing the new panel at a reasonable price. Also they had financing options that were same as cash. I was provided some options of circuit breakers and the price with the options. The differences in breaker were explained and the code requirements for my area was also explained and compared to other local code standards. I was able to customize the options a little bit based on my needs and I have more space in the panel if I have additional requirements. Going from a box from the 1960’s to a modern solution mad a lot of sense. The installation was smooth with only a short time without power. Throughout the process, I was well informed of the progress. My family was able to work remotely from home during most of the install without too much disruption. (Used cell phone for internet and laptops while power was off.) They even installed a monitoring system for me to track the electrical use of the house. Overall they did a great job and I am very satisfied."

"Larry and his crew upgraded our under cabinet lighting with new LED lighting, and specialized outlet. Not only was our home and its contents treated as if they lived here, the job was done professionally. So much so, that the only issue we had was when the switch/outlet face plate screws came loose. I didn’t even bother calling Larry, I tightened them myself. The lighting is on, literally 24 hours per day since the install, with zero issues. Love these guys."
