"Bobby and the Fortress Techs were very professional, considerate, and thorough. The difference we feel from the crawl space insulation from before to after is amazing. Within just a day or two that musty smell in the house that was coming from the crawl space was gone! Bobby kept us informed throughout the entire process and finished the project on time. I would highly recommend Fortress Foundations Solutions to everyone; we were extremely satisfied with the outcome and the high quality customer service we received."

"Excellent wish all my contractors came out this good.  showed up for the estimate on time and had a video that showed the steps to fix the basement.  measured  the basement and made up contract.  when I mentioned angies list and deals offered we built it right into contract without printing coupons and stuff. were quick with availability came out the following week.  foreman (Dan) was on time and double checked everything before starting .Wanted to move sump pump and outside drain to a less used area. not a PROBLEM. Was loud and cold in the house all day as if you run the furnace while they work it comes through the vents.  laid out carpet protectors and were done in only 1 day (the estimator planned 2)  Jackhammered the floor out and dug down to foundation laid new drains and installed new sump pump. they brought 5 people and they all worked hard constantly for the day.  lost track of all the buckets after 30 (5 gal. buckets).removed with old crap.  Explained all the warranties and paperwork with new sump pump.  Have to wait for the concrete to dry. it's now 3 days later and I'm ready to put the basement back together.  Looks great and can't wait to use the basement without wet and damp floors and walls furnace)  did forget to put screen back in basement window but if you have leaky walls and damp floors this is nice.  any problems after the next big rain I'll let ya's know.

"The AA Waterproofing crew was efficient, finishing a day before we anticipated that they would be done. Very polite and professional. Used drop cloths to try to keep the steps as clean as possible. Satisfied an additional request with no hesitation. We would recommend this company to others looking for basement waterproofing."

"Pressured to sign the bill the day they did the inspection. Didn't like that but we seemed to get a discount by doing that. The work looks wonderful. I asked them to move one of the drain pipes and with a little prodding, they did. We were supposed to get dehumidifiers and they don't seem to be there. We are following up on that now. Very nice staff. Very responsive."

"Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing quickly responded to my request for service. Their sales rep inspected the poor existing drainage in my basement and made suggestions to improve the system. He took measurements and inspected the foundation, and then he presented a quote for the work to be performed. The work crew arrived on time, and they were quick and efficient. The crew took great care to keep dust and dirt to a minimum. They removed all debris from the work site and left the basement very clean. The new drain tile , piping, and sump pump are of very high quality, and have managed to keep my basement completely dry, even during the rain deluge that destroyed nearby Ellicott City MD."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

In most cases, a crawl space will not dry out on its own unless the moisture comes from an uncommon flood and isn’t expected to be a recurring issue. For most homeowners, moisture problems in the crawl space will only continue to get worse over time, so addressing the underlying problem with gutter systems or a foundation drainage system and setting up a preventative solution like a dehumidifier is necessary.

The type of stormwater drainage system you need depends on your area’s storm severity and frequency. Your property’s location should also be considered, including the surrounding soil type, nearest roads, existing drainage systems, and slopes and hills. Your property’s structure, such as decks, walkways, crawl spaces, and foundation, also affects what drainage system will work the best.

A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.

The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.

If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500 and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.

Costs depend on pump type, labor, and site-specific requirements like excavation or drainage lines.
