Horrible.
On 10/16/2014, the business filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 (Liquidation) of the federal Bankruptcy Act, case# 5:14-bk--01273-JJT. Those with monetary claims against the business are advised to obtain a Proof of Claim form by writing to U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of PA 197 South Main Street Wilkes Barre PA 18701 for resubmission to that court. There are cracks in cement that they poured.  The dehumidifier has not worked properly for the past three months.   Both are under lifetime warranty but the company is being unresponsive for the last three months.  There is supposed to be a yearly maintenance which has never been done.  I haven't heard from anyone yet.  I have sent a letter to the BBB.

It went very well.  They came when they said they would.  Got the job done and left.  It was installed in one day.  They cleaned up after themselves.  I'm very happy with the work.

Basically I had a very bad experience.  They did come and service my house.  The finished product worked ok for a little bit but after a few months the basement began to leak very badly.  I called them and they came back and when they looked into the problem they didn’t have the supplies. Someone then came out days later and once again did not have the correct tools again to fix it.  I scheduled even another time, and they still said they did not have the tools.  He called his boss and his boss said that it was leaking 10 inches away from the main pipe they had worked so they said they would not fix it.  They have been dragging the process out for months.

When our finished basement flooded we needed inside the house wart proofing as not all areas of the outside we're accessible. They planned out the work very well. Initial work was done very quickly. The workmen were polite and professional. They used plastic covers but left a large amount of dust. I expected that the floor where they installed the drains would look different than the original floor but it appears to be a very coarse, cheap, concrete that has a rough surface and does not blend smoothly into the original floor. After they finished work and we cleaned up the mess, we had the walls rebuilt where they had cut away the bottom 18". Luckily we did not install carpeting right away because at the first heavy rain an 8 ft section leaked. When we called about having this fixed it took a month and many phone calls to get a response and despite assurances from the secretary who said she was hired to address problems with interactions with customers it took another 2 months, 2 times where the company didn't show up for appointments and multiple phone conversations with a supervisor (Jeff) who would swear at me and hang up the phone on me. When the workmen finally came to fix the leak they found it was caused by improper work. The repaired floor was even rougher than the other areas. We asked Thompson's to pay for redoing the wall and door frame that we're cut open for the repair, but they refused, saying it wasn't part of their warranty.

The work was messy but The crew was very hard working. The jackhammer hit a pipe under our sink. They came back to fix that. While the amount of water was drastically reduced in our basement, I will never feel secure enough to finish it. They have returned 4-5 times to troubleshoot the problem because their service has a lifetime guarantee. The last time they came (2 years after original job) they added another sump pump and redug one of the ditches. It seems to have helped but I still see a very small amount of water seeping through a few cracks in the floor. With two small kids in the house, it's exhausting to keep having service people in and out of your house. I'm not happy it took so many visits, but I think overall that they were fairly quick in responding to my calls and getting out to our house.

This is a follow up to a previous service/review.  We have since found water in our crawl space.  Thompson's came out to look at the problem and offered no permanent solution.  I have since spoken with an owner and she apologized and clarified the situation.
Response from Thompson's Basement Waterproofing
"I would like to begin by first addressing the malicious comment referencing Thompson's Waterproofing filing for bankruptcy. Thompsons has filed what is referred to as a chapter 11 which is a restructure of the company. In doing this, all bills are paid by Thompson's Waterproofing and all warranties are still in effect. NOTHING with the way our company does business has changed. I think that anyone whom has never had a financial struggle should feel blessed, however, our company has opted to NOT allow our struggle to effect our customers. Thompson's Waterproofing is now and will continue to remain an honorable reputable company as opposed to the companies who file chapter seven and open under a different name with no regards to their clients or creditors. Now to address (Remove member name) water issues. Thompson's Waterproofing did work last year and throughout this extremely wet winter there have been no problems. I do apologize that you are now noticing some water and on May 12, 2014 after receiving your call we did send service out to your home and have made every attempt to resolve your issues. Prior to your recent problem you were completely satisfied with Thompson's Waterproofing to the point where you were even willing to provide yourself as a reference to other potential clients. I am sure that other companies have told you that we did not fix the problem correctly and that we are going out of business and many other fables, they want your business. I am well aware of companies in the industry that make it a practice to go out to homes, remove existing systems and install their own just to make a quick buck. If this is the path you choose to travel then I will wish you nothing but positive results. However, you do have a lifetime transferable warranty on the system which we have installed in your home and I would like to resolve any issues or problems which you feel have not been properly addressed. I would also like the opportunity to correct your present system and save you the money and aggravation of having another company resolve what you have already paid for. Please feel free to contact at any time by calling 877-345-0670 ask for Renee. Thank you for taking the time to read my response and I wish you the best in whatever avenue you choose, however, Thompson's Waterproofing has been around for years and we are not going anywhere and I would like the opportunity to honor the warranty you were given with your system. Thanks again. Renee 877-345-0670"

Very professional and performed the job well. Came out first for a quote.  Received a lifetime guarantee for the work and a certificate that is transferrable to any future homeowner. They were very careful about the clean up so there was no remaining dirt. Very customer oriented.

We haven’t had to use them since.  The pricing was reasonable, we didn’t consider high.  There was nothing we didn’t like.  We like that they came and finish it in one day, we like the person who came before him who explained the whole process to us, so that we understood what it was we were agreeing to what we were going to have done.  The man who worked here were very polite.  I would definitely recommend them to anybody who is having that done.

Crew came on 3/4/13 to re do the drainage system installed 2 years ago and they mixed the cement outside on a brand new stone patio leaving huge white stains behind that will never come off

The company rep (Mike Cotton) insisted that the leak was
due to general water accumulation under the house and that we needed a drain
system with sump pump installed.
He specifically dismissed any suggestion that there may be
something wrong at that particular location on the basement wall or that there
may be an existing drain system (although we told him that we already have a sump
pump).
When the crew came to do the work it was immediately clear
that we have a drain system in place. The workman told me so, pointing to the
indentation on the basement floor, even before they started digging.
The job was done in less than four hours, instead of the
estimated 2-4 days, because they used the existing trenches.  The company manager
(Jeff) refused to give me a partial refund on the pre-agreed $3184.
Few days later, after a heavy rain, water started seeping
through the cinder blocks at that very same corner.
As the contractor who came to repair the drywalls also
attested, the leakage was through the basement wall and not coming from
underneath.  THE INSTALLMENT OF A NEW DRAIN SYSTEM WAS MOST PROBABLY TOTALLY UNNECESSARY.
In fact, because the existing pipes that go all around the house were cut, new problems may be expected.
I called the company (the manager hung up on me when I started asking too many questions and a letter and a fax I sent
to the owner were never answered). They eventually sent somebody who drilled a
few holes on the cinder block wall to let water drain and pinned a piece of
plastic on the bricks.  I spent a few thousand dollars more with another contractor to repair the damage on the
drywalls and floors.
My feeling is that the company does not try to find out
what the problem is, they just try to talk you into signing up with an
expensive service that may or may not solve the problem.

Installation was very clean considering all the dust they generated breaking up the concrete floor.  The crew was professional and answered all my questions.  They ran the drainage line off the side of my house and we tested the operation.  No issues, well done, clean work area.

The first rain was two weeks after installation and the system failed flooding my basement and costing $6500 to dry out and thousands of personal property loss. The company sent the installer back and he said it was a "faulty check valve". The check valve was replaced. The company refuses to take responsibility for the damage they caused hiding behind a contract that basically states it is not responsible if the system fails or damage that is done. Their 100% "lifetime warranty" covers nothing. I have heard nothing but "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE". They state they stand behind their work but if their work fails its not their problem. The check valve is being looked into by the manufacturer and their feeling so far is the check valve was not faulty rather the installer who failed to install it properly. I felt pressured by the salesman to sign the contract the same day as the estimate for a bigger discount. The general manager is rude. I have only asked this company to pay for the drying out of my basement not for the personal loss and I've been told this is unreasonable. Please do not hire Thompsons waterproofing unless you want a water logged basement.
Response from Thompson's Basement Waterproofing
"Thompson's Waterproofing made numerous attempts to resolve the issue with [member name removed], none of which were satisfactory to her. When the call was received there was an issue with water our service department arrived to the clients home withing hours and resolved the problem. There is not another waterproofing company out there that has the customer service attention that Thompsons has. To request that our company pay $6000 to dry out a basement is ludicrous as was determined by the BBB. [member name removed] filed a complaint with the better business bureau and the BBB determined that Thompson's Waterproofing went above and beyond to satisfy the client. I am sorry that [member name removed] is not happy but I do believe that a quicker response to her issues would not have been possible and had she requested at the time we would have dried her basement out at no cost to her saving her, as she states, $6000 which is not a reasonable amount to pay to dry out carpeting."

As far as the price goes, I thought it was fair.  It was slightly more expensive than other places on the market, but they did provide installation and supposed ongoing customer service.
Installation was on time and very efficient.
Has it fixed my issue?  Yes.  It was a good solution.
MY ISSUE THAT STILL REMAINS is that I have never to this day received the receipt that I was promised to be mailed with all of my warranty information, etc.  This is now over 6 months later and after calling their corporate office as well.  I have no problem dropping a little extra money for the best solution.  Why can't you just send me my receipt and warranty info?
While their on-site crew seemed great, I probably won't use them again because their office staff is clearly disorganized which gives me reservations about receiving ongoing service for potentially lingering issues.

We were told that the dark/silver mortars would turn colors. It now just looks it has a bunch of water spots. There are spots all over. It looks like we are going into a dungeon.  They told us the only lifetime guarantee that they offer was for water proofing, and since they didn’t water proof for us they said we don’t have access to any type of guarantee. The spots are getting worse everyday. stay away from this company.

The crew was punctual. They did what they said they would do in a timely fashion. There were some cracks that appeared once the cement dried which we were told might happen. They came back and filled in the cracks. Compared to other prices were were given I think the price was ok. There is no way to tell if it worked until the next very heavy rain occurs. They cleaned up after themselves but because of the nature of the work there was dust to deal afterwards.

Initial project: Grade B.  Overall went well.  Only reason for a B is that they noted that they were going to put a trench around my laundry sink as a means to prevent damage if it overflowed.  But when they came back to do the job it wasn't done.  Overall I haven't had a drop of water since the install so that is very good.  The rep was Adam.
- !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this wouldn't have been an option in the first place as it could pose a local issue (gray water pumped outside the home.

Warranty: Grade A. Adam (rep) noted to me that no matter where (not through windows or above obviously) water came in (walls or floor) that the warranty would cover it.  Well you don't get the warranty until after the job... and guess what?  Water up from the floors isn't covered.  Not cool.
- !!!! UPDATE 20121125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this condition is covered.  My mistake. Grade changed to A.

Basement windows: Grade F.  Called them and had them out to estimate putting in a basement egress as well as the other basement windows.  The rep (Brett) came out, measured, etc.  Then nothing.  I called.  I called.  The customer service team told me on numerous occasions that the "president of the company" was going to call.  He never did.  Eventually, a sub or partner of theirs called me and provided me a quote over the phone (for the egress - the didn't do the other windows).  The quote was blind and didn't take into consideration any of the data that Brett collected during his visit.  This ordeal was a TOTAL waste of my time.
- !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this rep is no longer with them and that he should have provided an immediate quote for the windows.  The only time the sub should have called is for the egress...

Customer service: Grade C.  They provided a mold remediation treatment as part of the basement water proofing.  One of my walls not is showing signs of something.  So I called.  Nothing.  No call back.  Nothing.
I regret going with this company.  I should have bit the bullet and spent the extra $$ to go with their competition.
- !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM.  He will be out in 2 days to treat the location and noted he will install a hose into my dehumidifier so that it drains into the system.
- !!!! UPDATE 20131127: Jeff was out, assessed the situation and provided a clear path to resolution.  I have homework but his team will be out to solve the problem.
- !!!! UPDATE 20140115 Grade changed to C.  Jeff's team corrected the issue to my satisfaction.

Thompson did a drain system for our entire basement, including two sump pumps, plus treated the area for mold. They also patched some areas on our basement walls, unrelated to the installation of the drain system. They covered our items in the basement with plastic to protect them from dust and laid plastic and paper to protect the flooring from the entrance to our home to the basement door._x000D_|_x000D_|The installation went very well. The finished product looks good and is ready for painting. We've had at least one good rain since the install and so far no leakage. The crew did a good job of cleaning up and removing debris, dust and the plastic. The project was finished on time.
