"I hired K & K to install a range hood. There was no electrical there previously so they had to run electric. I also had them install a new light fixture and remove an exhaust fan. K & K did excellent work and even repaired an electrical box that another contractor had installed. I was given a great estimate and was charged the estimate price. Would definitely use again and recommend."

"Everything about Able Electrical Services service was superb! I was in a jam, and Able Electrical Services came to the rescue. Both of the mechanics that assisted were excellent. Russell Ridgway was the primary mechanic and he was amazing! His work is superior and he exceeded my expectations every step of the way. For example, I needed electrical outlets to connect install a wet bar. He measured the wet bar and installed the outlets exactly where they were needed and ensured sufficient power was added to accommodate a kegerator and mini-frigs. I highly recommend Able Electrical Services and hope I never need to use any other electrician."

"I had an excellent experience with Clinton Electric Co. overall and the electrician they sent, Eric Shipley. Communications before the visit were prompt, professional, and geared toward promoting confidence. Electrician was also courteous and professional throughout the visit, provided excellent communications as to expected costs and the diagnostic he was performing, and performed the work quickly and efficiently (tested the wiring, replaced electrical outlets, installed new circuit breaker, and tested to confirm all outlets and the dishwasher were working). Provided email with invoice before leaving the visit. Company communications practices geared toward safety and inspired confidence - dispatcher provided name of electrician before visit; company also texted and emailed photo of electrician prior to visit. Electrician wore mask and followed safe COVID-19 practices. I was very pleased and would use this company again, as well as highly recommend them."

"I had issues with 2 lights and circuit breaker in my home and JA Electrical were a godsend. I heard back from them within minutes of placing online quotes in my area. I was able to get a tech, Antonio, out to my home the same day. He worked ho*** ** getting my issue resolved and he succeeded. He's very professional, timely, and I would highly recommend him and the company to anyone having issues."

"I was referred to Kolb Electric by my home warranty service.  There were two issues, both in the bathroom:  1.  The light fixture did not work.  I had changed the bulb but still no light.  Could not determine the issue on my own so I contacted an electrician.  2.  One of the two plugs on the outlet did not work.  The latter issue was relatively easy to resolve.  The repair person happened to have a GFI receptacle and was able to replace.  He noted that the cost was normally $30 + tax for the part but he did not charge me.  The reset had broken on the other one.   With the former issue, the technician was taking a very long time (more than 30 mins) to diagnose the problem.  His conclusion was that i needed a new fixture entirely.  The one I had was a T12 ballast fixture and he recommended a T8 ballast fixture.  I asked him to explain the rationale as well as the difference between the two.  He didn't provide a very thorough or  clear explanation, except to repeatedly say that I needed a new fixture.  In reality, what he was recommending was a new striplight--not a new fixture.  [Note:  I purchased a new T8 light strip from Amazon for a whopping $16.45.]  When I asked if he was able to make this repair, he noted that he had to contact my home warranty service to get approval.  I could not recall immediately if my home warranty covered parts, etc.  I looked through my files for a copy of the policy while he spoke with the home warranty service via phone.  He shared with me that he'd now been at my home for more than an hour, and there would be charges for subsequent time.  [Note:  He was on the phone with the home warranty company from 8:49 am - 9:20 am.]  I asked him how he'd calculated that, since it had been less than an hour, and he said that he included the time it took him to find parking.  Even now, nearly two years later as I write this, I still can't believe he actually said that.  If every repair or service person charged their customers in DC for time they search for parking, no one would ever be able to afford a repair service.  This is a major metropolitan city and you're arriving during the AM rush hour (arrived at 7:40 am).  As he spoke (allegedly) to the warranty company, presumably his dispatcher/supervisor and me, he kept changing the cost to stay--from $246 to $305 to $185 (for the fixture alone) to $270.  At this point, I decided to wrap up our interaction, and told him I'd be in touch if I needed him (which I never would).  I gave him a check for $75--the cost per the warranty company for the visit.  In the end, I never called him or Kolb back.  It took 2 more electricians to diagnose the problem (see my POSITIVE review of A Action Home Services).  In the end, it wasn't the fixture at all.  A neutral connection had to be repaired.  Once that was fixed, and a new bulb installed, ta-da:  light!  I'm being generous with my rating mostly because he did fix the plug.

"I was pleasantly surprised with the service this company completed for me! The guys replaced kitchen electrical outlets, switches, and hung a new kitchen light for me. They were on time in arriving, did great work, and the price was very reasonable compared to other companies. I would hire them again for future work! Owner even followed through with a call to see how everything turned out, impressive!"

"Mark replaced electrical panels after they caught fire and burned. He responded very quickly to the request, showed up next day (Sunday) , walked us through all the project steps and started working as soon as possible given the emergency. The installation was very professional, everything completed as promised as very quickly."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Combining electrical work with other home upgrades in Owings Mills can streamline your renovation and help you avoid repeated disruptions. For example, updating your electrical panel during a kitchen remodel or basement finishing can reduce the number of inspections and speed up project timelines. Local contractors often coordinate permits for bundled projects, minimizing downtime and ensuring your upgrades meet current electrical code requirements.

Helpful?

In Owings Mills, be wary of electrical contractors who provide vague quotes, push for immediate cash payments, or refuse to offer written agreements. Watch for professionals who suggest skipping permits or can’t provide local references. Trustworthy electricians will clearly outline the scope of work, offer flexible payment options, and encourage you to review their recent electrical panel upgrades or outdoor wiring projects in the area.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Owings Mills, select materials suited to local conditions. Use 12-2 or 14-2 NM-B cable for indoor wiring, and THWN-2 wire for conduit in humid basements. For outdoor wiring, opt for GFCI outlets with weather-resistant covers and PVC or galvanized steel conduit. Upgrading to a 200-amp electrical panel is recommended for older homes to support modern appliances and ensure safety.

Helpful?

In Owings Mills, address burning smells, sparking, or hot outlets right away, as these signal urgent electrical hazards. If your home has aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring, prioritize replacement soon. Upgrades like adding outlets or a 200-amp panel can be scheduled within a few months, while decorative lighting or smart home installations can wait. Consider local weather and insurance guidelines when planning your projects.

Helpful?

In Owings Mills, you can safely replace light switches, outlets, or fixtures on existing circuits by turning off the breaker and using a voltage tester to confirm power is off. Always check for proper grounding and ensure GFCI protection in bathrooms and outdoor areas, as required locally. If you notice panel issues, aluminum wiring, or frequent breaker trips, contact a licensed electrician promptly.
