From the moment I contacted them, they were responsive and communicative, providing me with a clear and concise breakdown of their cleaning packages and pricing. "Fabulously. Jeff communicated with us when he was coming to the house, when the inspectors were due to come, and when he would not be at the house. He was very flexible and worked with our schedule, even though we had to postpone our start date because we discovered termites on our property. He confirmed our design choices throughout the construction process, ensuring that we would be pleased with the outcome. Jeff's work crew were polite and hard-working. They cleaned up after themselves, leaving the yard free of construction debris. They also washed down the deck and trellis to clean off mud that splashed onto it during construction. The new deck is well constructed, is extremely low maintenance, blends with the colors of our house siding and trim, and looks great. I definitely recommend Jeff and Homecraft Builders."

"Loved every part of working with DZ Renovations! Very knowledgeable about the products and appreciated the style recommendations that we ended up going with and LOVING! The product itself is great, from the sleek design, to being easy to clean, and I love that child safety locks were built in. The crew worked efficiently and did a great job installing our windows and sliding door. They left no mess behind and the quality of their work was amazing. Couldnâ t be more pleased with the final product and cannot recommend this company enough!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

Standard door sizes aren’t one-size-fits-all, but there are common go-to dimensions. For exterior doors—like your front door—36 inches wide by 80 inches tall is typical, though you’ll see 30- or 32-inch widths too, especially in older homes. Interior doors vary more. Bedrooms and bathrooms often use 30- to 32-inch widths, and closet doors can be anything from slim singles to wide bi-folds. Height is usually 80 inches across the board; however, always measure your actual opening. “Standard” only works if it matches what’s already in place.

Professionals guarantee a secure fit, weatherproofing, and enhanced curb appeal.

Longer screws can make a door more secure, but this isn’t a foolproof method for security. Replacing the short screws in your door’s strike plate with screws that are 3 inches long will make it much more difficult for an intruder to force entry by kicking down the door, but it won’t do anything to stop them from picking the lock.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

A door sill is the horizontal part of the door frame at the bottom, while a door jamb consists of the vertical parts of the frame on either side. The door sill serves as a threshold, sealing the bottom of the door, while the door jamb provides structural support and houses the hinges and latch. Both are essential components of a door frame, with the door sill acting as a transition point and the door jamb providing stability and functionality.
