"We called David Stiffler to fix five outlets that had suddenly stopped working. Turns out, they came back on just before he arrived. He came, checked the wiring, found nothing but was very thorough and plans to come back if the failure recurred. Did not charge us."

"I had 10 recessed lights installed in my home, and the job was absolutely fantastic. The electrician worked quickly and efficiently, and the price was great for the quality of work. The new lights look amazing — they change colors, can be dimmed, and completely transformed the space. He also installed two separate light switches so we can control the lights from different walls, which has been super convenient. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the service and would definitely hire him again!"

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.
