"Within 24 hours of contacting Eric he arrived at my house to service a fountain that was installed by a previous owner of my house and which needed cleaning and pump replacement in order to use. He was great. Definitely recommend."
"Riveras Landscaping LLC Gutter Cleaning and Maintenance I am very impressed with the work of Rivera’s Landscaping. They responded immediately to my request for an estimate for leave clean-up, gutter clean-up, and gutter repair. Edwin arrived promptly the next day. He gave me an estimate that was reasonable and offered to clean the gutters and fix the gutters on the spot that day while arranging for the leave clean-up the following week. He did a great job on both items. I appreciated that Edwin responded to my weather-related concern to get the leave clean-up done earlier. He somehow squeezed me into his busy schedule to avoid the upcoming inclement weather forecast for our arranged day. Edwin maintains great communication so you know what is going on. He did an outstanding job on the leave clean-up blowing, raking, and bagging. My yard was impeccable. He also fixed the mortar missing in my chimney, something he had noticed when he fixed my gutters. Edwin learned that he also does snow removal so I got on his list for that. I am happy to have a reliable and great resource for this winter. If you want meticulous attention to any yard/house task at affordable rates, I highly recommend Rivera’s Landscaping. Dec 21, 2022"
"Backyard Ponds is magic. I have a small backyard pond, stream and waterfall that have been leaking for years. Various workmen had poured concrete into it, slathered mortar between stones and sprayed special waterfall foam all over the sides of it. My pond, stream and waterfall continued to leak. Hilary of Backyard Ponds looked at it for a while, moved one stone and fixed the leak. How did you do that! I yelled. Well after you work on enough of these things you get an eye for what the problem could be. Then she vacuumed all the mud that had been clogging the pum , reattached the waterline and pump that I could never get to stay together, restacked the rocks along the edge of the stream so they actually sat on top of each other instead of sliding down at all angles, and added a few strategically placed rocks to hide the pump and waterline and cover the rubber sides of the stream. She added a regulator to the water line so I could make the water run fast and slow. And more. I have had a pond and stream for fifteen years, and many people have worked on it, from expensive professioanl landscapers to guys I would swear the contractor picked up off the street corner. The difference in using someone who specializes in ponds is stunning. Backyard ponds is magic. "

"Marvin and his team were exceptionally knowledgeable, neat, creatives and punctual. Marvin was patient and a great listener. I shared my very basic ideas with him and he delivered an amazing final product! He had many suggestions that I hadn’t considered and I will be using his services again in the Spring. I found Marvin to be very fair and honest, considering he’s a one stop shop. The photos are before and after the landscape work completed by Marvin and Company. A septic tank always has some amount of liquid in it—which should usually be 8 to 12 inches from the top of the tank. If the liquid level is higher than that or is overflowing the drainage pipe that leads out to the leach field, the tank may be too full and in need of pumping.
You can check your own septic tank, but take precautions. Locate the access lid, usually buried a few inches underground, and remove it carefully. Look for the sludge and scum levels, and if they’re high, that means pumping may be necessary. Check for odors, slow drains, or pooling water around the drain field, which could indicate issues. Never enter the tank, as toxic gases can be fatal. All of that being said, a professional inspection is safer and more thorough.
The bacteria already present in your septic system should be enough to break down solids in a properly maintained septic tank. However, if you’re in a DIY mood, you can try adding (well-mashed) rotten tomatoes to help the good bacteria fulfill their duty. Just make sure you give them a couple hours to work after flushing them down.
It is generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage for a short time, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. While the level of sewer gas is usually low enough to only cause minor symptoms, prolonged inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation. High levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous, and high concentrations of methane—a component of sewer gas—can pose an explosion risk in enclosed spaces. If you smell sewer gas in your home, ventilate the area and call a professional to locate, assess, and fix the problem, as it will not go away on its own.
Although cesspits may be necessary depending on your main sewage system access or nearby soil quality, they carry a few drawbacks. Cesspools require regular emptying and have relatively high maintenance and pumping costs. Certain areas also disallow the use of cesspools and may require you to cover the cost of existing cesspools to be converted into septic tanks.
