"Empire was amazing - we needed to replace/cover flooring in a room with crumbling tiles and grout. The salesman who first came was knowledgeable and offered many options and we locked in our sale price. It was easy to reschedule when we had a tornado in town and might not have had power the day of the install. Also, the flooring we had signed up for went out of stock in between the order and install time, so they approved for us to have a non-sale flooring to swap out when our time came to install at the sale price! On the day of the actual install, the installer was right on time, and did the whole room in just a few hours, checking in with me along the way with any questions and Sebastian did a beautiful job! We will absolutely be calling Empire again when we need other carpeting or flooring!"

"Prompt response… very professional! I have been without a sink for two weeks, called a few companies and no follow up.. Tejadas was able to fit me in right away.. they were at my home on time and did a great job cutting my granite countertop and positioned my sink to get installed by the plumber… I would definitely hire them again for any future jobs"

"Onyx Marble was recommended by a good friend, who was very pleased with the work they did for him, remodeling his bathrooms. He insisted we give Onyx a try and we are glad we did! Paula listened carefully to our modest plans to update our tile kitchen counters and from pictures of our kitchen, immediately recommended several options, in several price ranges.....suggesting a stone that would help "pop" our current color scheme. We agreed --- on the stone she suggested, finalized the order and within a week, the template team came out. This team, also took the time to look at our kitchen and made recommendations we hadn't thought of as well as identified concerns the installation team may face given the need to remove all the tile (vs pull off the counter). Paula continued to keep us informed and although the installation had to be delayed a few days, she worked with us, to accommodate our schedule. The day of installation, the 3rd Onyx team came out. These guys -- also helpful in making last minute adjustments to accommodate earlier concerns raised by the template team, worked hard, overcoming obvious challenges carrying heavy pieces of stone up 3rd floor walk up, cleaned up as best they could (tiles make a huge mess as does dust from stone), and went over all issues that were important to bring to our attention. Although we had to have Onyx come back for 2 adjustments (that we found after the guys left), again, Paula listened, responded quickly and resolved the items within days. We couldn't be more pleased with the changes to our countertop/kitchen, the customer service we received and the work performed (at competitive pricing) by Onyx and their teams. Only Recommendation I would make in hindsight -- if removing tile counters, due to the added dust/debris, remove everything from your cabinets and cover as many open spaces (eg. pantry, doorways) as possible. This in not as important if solid counters are being pulled."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).
