"Work was performed exactly as discussed and agreed to (match existing paint colors) at estimated cost. Start was delayed at our request due to high heat and humidity, with no complaints. Work was further delayed through no fault of Arch Painting due to continuous wet weather. Once a good weather window finally occurred, the work was performed quickly with no impact on us. We were totally satisfied with the quality of the work and the finished product."

"Mack Mombrini with Alton Barnes has done a TON of work on our home and is spectacular to work with. He's professional, a great communicator, has great attention to detail and has experience in so many different areas/can do a wide variety of projects (and if there's something he can't personally do/procure, he has a large network in the area that can help). His pricing is fair and the work gets done in a timely manner. He's helped us with the following: - interior painting (walls, doors, molding/trim) - refinishing of hardwood floors - kitchen remodel (new countertops, backsplash, sink/faucet, refinishing/painting of cabinetry, appliance install) - custom door install/replacement (including widening a doorframe) - outdoor shower repair - next up is staining our fence I don't think there's anything we've asked of Mack that he hasn't been able to do himself or outsource through another subcontractor. Whatever home project we have in mind, we'll always reach out to Mack for help!"

"I had an excellent experience with this company. Of the 4 quotes I received they gave me the best price. The painters were always punctual, courteous and respectful. Each day they left the premises nice and clean. They did an amazing job painting the interior of my home I could not be happier with the finished product. I would definitely recommend them for any of your painting needs."

"I.S. Painting, Carla and Italio, are very reliable, and they went out of their way to make sure we were happy each step of the way. They were not afraid to tackle the situation at our momâ s house. I. S. Painting tackled remediation for nicotine and water damage inside the home. They kept us updated and informed. They painted the living room, dining room, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, all our interior doors, front door, closets, hard to get to areas, and ceilings. They had to sand everything, prime, and paint. Once finished, they cleaned up all their protective covers and took away all trash. Ohh did I mention they let us add the interior doors after they completed the walls and ceilings? They did!!! Through I.S. Paintingâ s extensive contractor network, they highly recommended an extremely skilled flooring contractor and a plumber. All three companies worked so well together! Their pricing indicates they want your business. I.S. Painting went above and beyond to make our vision a reality for our mom and her health!!! We are forever grateful. We would highly recommend and use in the future!!!"

"Being in the military and out of state makes hiring a contractor for any job nerve-wracking. With fair pricing and honesty I plan to use Claudio's Painting and Home Improvement for any future projects. Thank you!"

"This was a home improvement project involving carpentry, siding, painting and staining. Workmanship was top notch. Communication was clear, thorough, and ongoing start to finish. David, Pat, and Steve were each skilled craftsmen and as a working team just the best ever. Bringing them back in the spring for another job. Grateful for their expertise and professionalism."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

This factor depends on exactly how much paint you remove from your hardwood floors. If it’s just a few small, hardly noticeable spots, refinishing won’t be necessary. However, if you completely strip your floors of paint, you will likely need to sand and finish them.

You can paint over cracked paint, but only if you properly sand down the damaged areas. Once the surface is as smooth as you can get it, clean the walls and let them dry before applying a new coat of paint. Painting over cracked paint without sanding or cleaning beforehand will not cover up the cracks and may even make them look worse.

Sometimes you can get away with simply sanding and painting over small areas of peeling paint. However, the problem will likely return quickly, and the ridge between old and new paint will be visible. If you just need a quick fix and won't worry about appearance, chip away the peeling paint as much as possible, prime and paint the area, and skip the spackle step.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.
