"I needed to replace the front steps because they were pulling away from the foundation. I received several quotes and Republic Masonry (Henry) came in with a budget friendly price. Henry and his co-worker were professional and very detail oriented and cleaned up when the job was complete. The stairs look wonderful! I would highly recommend Republic Masonry (Henry) for all your cement projects. Kathy Faye"

"Entire team did a great job on our basement project. The project included removing mold from basement walls, applying sealant, covering walls with wire mesh and then cement. Also, dug out dirt floor and installed a concrete flooras well as, installing lolly-columns and replacing rotting ceiling beams. All the workers were polite, respectful of our property and a pleasure to work with. We would gladly hire again!"

"Communication with AJ at PVP was exceptional. Unfortunately, weather delayed the job several times, but AJ kept in contact with me almost daily with updates and the job was completed as soon as the weather cleared. The finished product was outstanding. It was beyond my expectations. PVP also placed seeded loam around the area disturbed by the work. I would definitely recommend PVP for paving and concrete work."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound
