"i have copied the complaint I have filed with the BBB. When I spoke to the manager at champion on Monday he said someone would get back to me by the end of the week. Here it is late Friday and I’ve heard nothing. I left a message on Monday with a customer service rep who’s voice mail said I’d get a call back in 24 hours but have had no return call yet. Even if the company reserves the right to cancel, their our bad oh well attitude and not even trying to work out some kind of resolution for their mistakes is the most unacceptable and unprofessional part of the whole experience with them. I added a picture of my contract with them so everyone can see how straight forward it shows what I was told I was paying for. Here is the BBB complaint Company rep gave a price of $24562 on vinyl siding during an in home sales presentation. At that time I explained I was not ready to purchase due to still looking at colors but also wanted to add on doors. Rep called his manager who said doors would have to be done separately either way but gave a price in the low $20’s over the phone if I signed up for the siding today. I passed and called the rep back a day or two later to come back to show us door options so we could add them on and get a total price. Rep came back on 3-13-19. We picked out 3 doors and he gave us a total price for everything of $29599. Contract was drafted up and signed and a deposit of $8880 was given by credit card. Was told by the rep there will be someone coming out to confirm measurements and price may fluctuate slightly if he under measured but was pretty confident he was close to accurate. On 3-15 some one came out and measured for the doors and remeasureed for the siding. He called back on 3-19 stating he had to come by and recheck one more measurement but I didn’t need to be home. That is the last I heard from the company till I called on 4-08-19 as we were told 3-5 weeks. First call was left on hold for 20 minutes, second call was told they would call me right back, made third call after waiting over an hour for call back only to find out my contact had been voided because they under charged me for the project. They said the rep misquoted the whole project and I was never charged for the doors even though the contract I signed shows I was. Said there was nothing they could do and they have a right to just void the contract if the so choose. Which they did without even telling me. The manager who acknowledged giving the rep the low price the first day out refused to even honor that price saying he gave it out not knowing all the information but gave it any ways. Not only did the rep supposingly misquote the job the manager gave an even lower one in order to close the sale. Now the cost they are telling me is approximately $29000 plus another $11000 for the doors. That’s a far distance from the original $24000 for just the siding that the rep and the even lower price the manager gave from the first visit. Manager said it would be at least 4 days before anyone else above him could even get back to me about this. He wouldn’t give me anymore names of the next people in line I could call. Just kept telling me he would give my information to the right people and they would call me. Stated I would be having a lawyer look into this and finally got a name and number of some customer service rep."

Classic Copper Works uses time honored German copper smith techniques handed down from father to son and passed on to our highly skilled artisans. We specialize in the fabrication of custom copper & bronze products and other metal specialties. WE DO NOT OFFER REPAIR SERVICES OF ANY KIND. Additional phone number - (888) 908-5339.

"Ordered and paid for custom awning that was to take 5 weeks. Its now been 16 weeks and still waiting. Owner is at best noncommunicable and at worst, rude. I'm now wondering if this is a scam and not a real business."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:

  • Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire

  • Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning

  • Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings

  • Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust

  • Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option

  • Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage

Fabric awnings provide shade, reduce energy costs, and enhance outdoor aesthetics.

Yes, you can convert a fabric awning to a metal one. You just need to swap the fabric for metal panels, which are more durable and weather-resistant. However, the support frame will probably need reinforcement to handle the added weight. You should consult a pro to address any structural concerns.

It depends on how you’ll use it. Both awnings and pergolas create shelter in outdoor areas, but pergolas have grid-style roofs, which are more open than awnings and not as effective at blocking out UV rays and precipitation. Also, pergolas are permanent structures, so you can’t put them away when you aren’t using them (unlike retractable awnings).

To make sure the installation process goes smoothly, try asking your pro the following questions:

  • Do you have insurance and a professional license to do the job? Installing a metal or canvas awning into a home’s exterior can be tricky, so ask your pro if they have the correct licensing and insurance to do the work.

  • What was the price of similar jobs in the past? Awning installation costs will vary depending on size, design, location, and other factors. Ask this question to get a feel for the average price range for jobs similar to yours.

  • How long will this project take to complete? Installing an awning is typically not too time-consuming, but hurdles can always present themselves. Gathering an estimated timeline could give you some peace of mind.

  • Will I need to get a building permit? Your local contractor will be well-versed in rules and regulations regarding building permits and other requirements to bring a project up to code. A seasoned pro will be able to furnish this information when discussing the quote.

  • Do you have any references from previous clients? A competent pro should readily hand out contact information for previous clients. Email or call these clients to hear about their overall experience.
