I wanted to paint the walls in the stairwell which had wallpaper. Contractor chose to remove the wallpaper and paint instead of new plaster. The walls weren't in great shape and the painters didn't smooth some bad patch work so I had some areas that don't look great. When I pointed them out and expressed unhappiness, he simply said "Bad walls." So I'd go with a 7 for the stairwell. Overall good job."

"I'm a Realtor and I hired Mike to install wall paper in my bath and paint walls and ceilings in my home. He did excellent work including cathedral ceilings in foyer and master bedroom; he worked with a critical eye; patching settlement cracks and nail pops as well. He arrived on time and was super neat and clean. Another contractor damaged the bathroom wall AFTER the wallpaper had been put up. I asked Mike back to fix it. Not only did he fix the patch job that the contractor did because he felt it was not done good enough, but he did not charge us for his work! He said he wanted us to be happy with the work AND it was not his fault we had to have him back. We insisted on paying him for it, but had to guess how much to give him because he didn't want us to pay.
