"Given a disappointing Home Depot oven delivery /install-I took the precautions to engage a plumber just in case. Neo was extremely responsive and timely-with same day service. HD offered a 10 day delay-an unacceptable option"

"EA Masonry recently completed repairs on a 40+ year old concrete stairwell. This work included replacing two stairs, rebuilding the foundation wall, and resurfacing the entire stairwell. The entire job went very well from my initial contact to get a quote to the completed work. Dan promptly returned my phonecall and visited to provide a quotation. The work was then scheduled and Dan contacted me one day in advance of arriving to ensure he and his team could do the work. The team arrived on time and was very professional during the entire job. The workmanship was excellent. They were also very respectful of the property and cleaned up everything upon completion of the job. I am very impressed with the work they completed and would highly recommend this company."

"The job was fairly straightforward and I had already procured the sink and most of the additional supplies but the job required some replumbing of both the water supply and drain. The master plumber worked efficiently and professionally and the job was completed in a few hours. The cost was determined from a standard table in a notebook but does not take into account the complexity of the job or whether materials are supplied by owner. Since I supplied most of the materials (plumber supplied valves and pipe and drain fittings) the price seemed rather high for around 3 hours work. However, I've had no professional plumbing work done recently and thus have nothing to compare it to. The plumber was very pleasant and professional and the work of high quality. I have no other complaints."

"They were available the next day to do some PEX and copper plumbing work. We worked well together for a few hours and located all the faulty pipes within the walls. Cleaned up after they were done. Would recommend."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.

Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.

Yes, professionals ensure proper grading and drainage to prevent water pooling.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.

Installing a sump pump takes a bit of know-how, but it is possible to do it yourself. You’ll need to familiarize yourself with details like where sump pump water goes to avoid creating new flooding risks. If you’re doing the work yourself, it’s recommended to bring in a pro for a quick inspection afterward so you can be sure your home is protected from any water damage concerns.
