"Tony did a great job on very short notice. I requested a quote through Angie's list from 10 companies for installation and Tony was the only one who was able to come out on the same day. He arrived and was able to start work immediately. We're very happy with the work he did and how well he treated my parents. He took the time to explain everything to them and us. He also went above and beyond getting the hose to work with the filters on the washing machine."
"I have now had 4 pickups from this company. Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled, a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! I don't know how these guys do it, but they pickup on time, without issue andfor the cost quoted. I have turned each of my contractors onto them - now they are using them. SO MUCH cheaper and better service than any dumpster company I have used!"
"Peter did a great job installing a new water heater. He was professional and courteous, completed the work quickly and efficiently, and left the area cleaner than when he found it. He charged exactly what he estimated and took care of a couple additional odds and ends at no additional cost. I would hire him again and recommend him without hesitation. "
"He was super nice and informative. He warned me about what to put down the garbage disposal. I did not have to use him since I ended up fixing the issue myself."
"Brandon and his crew are fantastic! My wife and I are totally satisfied with his job. We did a total makeover of our kitchen and pantry, about 300 square feet total. Job included gutting to the studs, wiring, plumbing, insulation, blueboard & plaster, painting, cabinet install, custom shelving in pantry and bookcase, hardwood floor repair and refinishing. All of Brandon's subcontractors were quality people as well. Brandon made a schedule ahead of time, and held to it, even when other contractors (countertop install) threw 'monkey wrenches' into the schedule. This is very important to you when you are eating off of a hot plate! From start to finish, Brandon communicated everything very clearly and responded promptly to any calls or emails. No major project goes without minor glitches, but Brandon stood behind his commitment at every turn, and made sure every part of the job was up to our very high standards. He handled all the paperwork and permitting with the town seemlessly. His price was very reasonable, significantly less expensive than other quotes, yet his work was top-notch. I would not hesitate to recommend Superior K&B to anyone for their project. "
"I had 100 year old columns that were rotting from ant damage. I had new columns custom made, and hired MA Design to remove the old ones and install the new ones. John L. the foreman, was friendly, helpful and competent as was the team that assisted. The job was not an easy one, as the new columns were difficult to match. I was pleased with the final result."
"The Kitchen Center came highly recommended by our designer as well as neighbors who had recently purchased kitchen cabinets. We had an extensive renovation, including a new master bathroom and kitchen remodel. Using quality materials that would endure the test of time in our new spaces was important to us, and after thorough comparison shopping we opted for Brookhaven cabinets from The Kitchen Center. The Kitchen Center had a large selection of cabinet styles/ finishes, attractive hardware and convenient accessories. We were able to find exactly what we had in mind. The staff worked seamlessly with our designer. The cabinet installation was expertly done, with a keen eye to the smallest details. Each staff member along the way was courteous and helpful. Our rooms have been transformed into beautiful, comfortable and very functional spaces, due in large part to the cabinetry. We are very pleased! "
"Don was very professional from first contact right on through to his follow up visit upon completing the project. He sat with us and listened to our ideas for designing the space then made recommendations balancing our extensive "want list" with our budget. This open dialog was very helpful as we took some time to refine all of the characteristics that would make the space feel comfortable and "not like a basement." Given his experiences in finishing basements, he was able to make many suggestions that resulted in a very enjoyable living space for our family. Key aspects that he handled with skill were framing in duct work and pipes allowing access to shut-offs, door sizing and closet placement optimized options for furniture placement and getting it in and out of the room. The trim, baseboards, support wraps, trophy wall and half wall for the stairwell were details that he and his team took care in doing well. The canned lights that were used provide plenty of light and with the dimmers also provide a perfect movie experience for the kids. We had two baseboard heater units installed in the main room with a thermostat and one unit with thermostat installed in the extra room. Don was very organized and this showed once work began. As he had several skilled craftsmen come in for various elements of the project, they were all made aware of every detail that was scoped out and agreed upon. There was framing, electrical, drywall and drywall finishing. We did the painting ourselves and also had a local vendor install carpet after the project was complete. Even as minor decisions and modifications were needed as work progressed, Don managed this very well.
We couldn't be happier with the end result! Thanks to Don, we now have a beautiful finished basement that we will enjoy for years to come. We highly recommend Don for the high quality service, professionalism and pride he shows in his work.
"Alex and his team (Geoff - plumber, Bruno - electrician) did an outstanding job. Alex responded to my initial query to Angie's list within 10 minutes..... so fast! He then had the plumber, Geoff out there within several days. Geoff was superb. He replaced the disposal and sink faucet and drain, upgrading the plumbing to code in the process. Thus, the robustness of our plumbing was greatly improved by what Geoff did (bringing our plumbing to code required raising some valves, and converting some metal/plastic interfaces to metal/metal). We did run into one problem, which was that the disposal switch developed a short circuit. Alex quickly had an electrician (Bruno) come by. Bruno did an outstanding job, working quickly but improving the electrical box by adding an extra switch. Thus, once again, the entire system was improved by their high quality work. Geoff in particular ended up spending more time than initially anticipated, so the price was double what was initially quoted, but I felt that a lot more work was done than initially anticipated, the work was high quality, Geoff and Bruno both worked quickly and hard (taking no breaks), so ultimately I felt that the cost was well worth it. Very fair. Alex also manages everything from afar, and does a great job. He responds immediately to subsequent calls and has an excellent interaction style. I would definitely hire them again and strongly recommend them!"
Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts
When a dishwasher discharges its wastewater, it uses a pump to quickly move a lot of water. If anything in the drain line or the garbage disposal impedes the high volume of water, it will back up into the sink through the drain or the garbage disposal. Following regular dishwasher maintenance tips like clearing clogs, keeping them cleared, and occasionally running the disposal will eliminate the problem.
Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.
While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.
Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.
Continuous feed garbage disposals are the favorite model for many homeowners for a reason. As opposed to batch feed models, add food scraps to the drain whenever the disposal is running. This variety is also typically less expensive, more convenient, and easier to clean.
