"Tim from Timâ s aquascape was so knowledgeable and respectful. I was a little taken aback when him and his employees showed up because I was not expecting them to be so young. But let me tell you donâ t let that fool you. I was so incredibly impressed with how hard they worked. They stayed each day for 10 hours! I could not believe the dedication and perfectionism that went into the custom koi pond they built for us. Since completing our project Tim even followed up with us and we have since signed up for him to do our bi-weekly maintenance to help keep our pond as beautiful as the day they finished it."

"Joe Bumbaca takes his work very seriously. He will commit to a job come hell or high water. Extremely loyal to his clients. Joe was recommended to me by Ken Brown of New England Nurseries. Ken was the father of my Koi Pond experience. Have Koi which are 30 years old. Will not compromise as these animals are dear friends. Could not recommend a more talented and loyal expert in terms of Koi management."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

The average pond maintenance cost is $2,000. But how much you pay to take care of your pond depends on multiple factors, such as the size of the pond and whether fish live in it. Your area's climate also affects the overall maintenance cost, as you may need to winterize your pond to protect it and any aquatic life in it during the colder months.

You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.

Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:

  • Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100

  • Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000

  • Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000

  • Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000

  • Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000

If you’re wondering how to build a pond above ground, it’s similar to building a pond below ground. Instead of digging, choose a plastic tub and install the same type of pond kit. Many homeowners find above-ground ponds a bit easier to install and maintain. Before getting started, learn how to design the landscape of your dreams,

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

A good rule of thumb is to change 5% to 15% of your koi pon’s water every week. Partial water changes help keep your koi healthy, and replacing small amounts at a time prevents causing stress for the fish.
