"Highly recommend Next Level Concrete! From the first conversation to the finished project, the entire experience was great. They were professional, quick, and showed up on time every day, which is hard to find these days. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and they answered all of our questions while making sure everything was done exactly how we wanted. The quality of work exceeded our expectations. The new walkways and patio completely transformed the look of our home and yard and gave everything such a clean, updated look. You can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship because every detail was done with care and precision. Not only did they work efficiently, but they also kept the job site clean and stayed on schedule. "We love our new paver patio. Jaime and team were able to accommodate our tight time window to complete the project and deliver the final product as we envisioned. He also offered alternative solutions to the unique space where we desired the patio. We would hire again in the future for additional landscaping projects in our backyard."

"We contacted Ben about fixing or replacing a set of old brick stairs. Ben agreed to come out that evening to provide a quote and promptly showed up at the time agreed upon. After surveying the area he provided a very reasonable quote. After comparing with two other companies we decided to select Ben the Mason based on his prompt response to our call and his outstanding reviews. We are very pleased with his service. Ben and his son removed the old brick steps and built a new set in a day and half. The work looks beautiful and it is clear that he takes immense pride in his work. It was a true pleasure doing business with him."

Paving Services FAQs, answered by experts

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

Yes, you should lightly wet the sand with a hose before laying the pavers on top. This activates the bonding agents in the sand, ensuring that your pavers don’t shift around during the installation process. However, you should make sure that the sand is not soaked; overwatering can cause the sand and pavers to not set properly.

Yes, a paved or repaved driveway can boost your home's value by increasing its curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space. A new driveway can add anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to a property's value. An old, crumbling driveway can be a red flag for potential buyers and inspectors.

The amount of value added depends on the materials used, the design, and local market conditions. Concrete is often cited as adding the most value due to its long lifespan, though asphalt may be more desirable in colder climates. The return on investment is greatest when replacing a driveway that is in poor condition; repaving a driveway that is already in good shape will not yield as significant an increase in value.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.
