"Colonial Restorations was superb.   Our family very much enjoyed working with Brad Green and Tom Green.  

At the outset, they made thorough assessments of our family's barn, identifying several problem areas and offering multiple proposals for how best to address each (including strategies and estimates).  They walked through the different proposals with us, addressing all questions and discussing different options.  This was extremely constructive and important to the process. 

They demonstrated very clear understanding of post-and-beam wood construction.  They displayed great expertise in working with wood (white oak, red oak, hemlock) and with the tools, jacks and cribbing needed for this work.  They worked carefully, always putting in place the necessary jacks and cribbing in advance of each phase of this project.

They were clear about their schedule and were very responsible about communicating with us.  If there were a day that they would not be on site, they let us know ahead of time.  With the exception of a snow storm and an illness, they were on site five days a week from the first week in January till the second week in February, 2016.  

By the completion of this project, Colonial Restorations had made significant and important structural repairs to our barn.  This work was done with care, craft, accuracy, and to code.  (All elements of this project were examined and passed by the building inspector.)  Most important, these repairs respected and worked with the existing structure and materials of the barn.

Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled,  a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! I don't know how these guys do it, but they pickup on time, without issue andfor the cost quoted. I have turned each of my contractors onto them - now they are using them. "Everything went wonderfully with this company.  They were very professional, listened to exactly what my problem was, and explained to me how they were going to diagnose the problem and/or solve it before doing any actual work.  Once they started, the team (three people came) worked together like a well-oiled machine.  One was in the room with diagnostics, one was at the fuse box looking for possible problems there, and the third went into the crawlspace beneath our house to look at the physical wiring.  Once the problem was found (there was a faulty wire beneath the house that had come loose from the junction box), it was fixed and tested within minutes and another full diagnostic was done to make sure there were no other possible issues.  They cleaned up after themselves very neatly.  They also replaced the light switch with a dimmer switch at no extra cost!  Well within my budget, and came in even lower than their original (FREE) estimate!  I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Bergen County area.
