"Damien arrived on time and determined our issue quickly and corrected our clogged pipes. We also asked him to check out another issue. He stayed and fixed this issue as well. He also cleaned everything up before leaving. A true professional. We will definitely be hiring him again and recommending him to all of our friends. Thanks again Damien"

"Al did great work. He replaced a water heater for me. He was responsive, prompt, and professional. His work was efficient and clean. His quoted price for the replacement was definitely good compared to some others. I would recommend Al to take care of your plumbing needs."

"Andrew was the man who did the work. I showed him where it was he talked and walked me through what needed to be done and what he was going to do. He was delaying at first but given the traffic and there was a lot of fog and he did message me he was on his way. He was kind he did his work, cleaned up and was very knowledgeable of plumbing which is extremely important! I would call on him again if I needed more plumbing to be done in our home! The fee was very reasonable too! Robert and Patricia Burgess"

"Jacob was punctual, professional, extremely knowledgeable, organized, and took great care to clean his work area when complete. He also took the time to explain options available and show me what was happening before the work was started and also followed-up with me to show me the work he completed. I would highly recommend Jacob and Epoch Plumbing."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks and specialized equipment requirements. Hire professionals for effective clearing.

A sewer line should be cleaned at least once every 18 to 22 months. The process takes about 30 minutes or up to 5 hours, depending on the size of the line, how easy it is to access, and how long it’s been since the previous cleaning. If your sewer line hasn’t been cleaned in a couple of years or you don’t even know the last time it’s been cleaned, it’s time to call a pro.

If methods like hot water or a plunger don’t work on your clogged drain, you can snake your drain to dislodge the plug. This can be a messy process, taking some physical effort and additional time over the other drain-clearing options. You can purchase a drain snake at a hardware store and choose from handheld options or those attached to a drill. Just work slowly, and be ready to call a plumber if you’re unable to reach the clog from your drain or P-trap.

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.
