"Soares Stone explained why granite often cracks behind a faucet and explained the process to repair it. Pablo quoted me a very fair price for a 2 1/2 hour project with two men. We had a little scheduling mix-up initially but when that was sorted out, he showed up and did a very professional job. I highly recommend. I did not have to wait long for an appointment."

"Prompt, courteous, seemed to fix the crack in our Silestone Counter. Color match was very good. I had sent 4 photos of the work, and they quoted recutting over the crack and bonding the 2 pieces. But on arrival, said they had not seen the photos and bonded the crack instead. I was surprised but perhaps that is the best strategy. Time will tell."

"Milton was terrific, he helped me choose product and scheduled the removal and installation of my countertops in the kitchen and bath. He was available for any questions that I had. Glen and his helpers arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently. They were very personable and professional. I am very pleased with their work. Now to get the tile work finished, and then I am happy."

"SouthCoast Precision Tile was great - it was a small job but Frederick went above and beyond in repairing a single tile. He noticed that the previous installer did a sub-par job, and re-grouted the entire bathroom. He was punctual, professional, and extremely neat. I would definitely hire him again and only wish I had hired him in the first place. Thanks for the great work!"

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Marble countertops are often considered better than limestone because of their superior durability and luxurious appearance. Marble is harder and less prone to scratching and denting, though it still requires maintenance and sealing to prevent stains and etching. Marble is typically more expensive, but its beautiful veining and range of colors offer a high-end look.

Due to the acidity, using vinegar to clean quartz countertops can actually damage them. In fact, doing so can cause discoloration and surface damage in the quartz. While it’s possible to clean other countertops, like laminate, tile, and butcher block, with vinegar, it’s best to stay from this cleaning solution if you have quartz in your kitchen or bathroom.

Any surface, including a waterfall countertop, can last decades based on a few things. First is the chosen material. For instance, quartz and granite are more durable and long-lasting than marble or concrete. Proper care also plays a key role. Regular cleaning and sealing, if required, will help any counter resist stains and damage over time.

Engineered stone doesn’t need sealing because it is non-porous. The manufacturing process creates a natural stain resistant to moisture, which also makes it easy to clean.

A water-based, low- or no-VOC sealer is typically a good choice for marble countertops. Choose a sealant that is certified safe for contact with food when applying to kitchen countertops. For high-traffic areas, look for formulas that have heat-resistant and acid-resistant features. While there are economical and convenient spray-on sealers, they don’t coat the surface as effectively as the ones you apply with a pad or brush.
