"Gaby helped us remodel our kitchen. We wanted to keep our existing custom cabinets but modernize the appearance. Gaby transformed the look from a country style kitchen to a more modern, crisp design by: -extending the cabinets about 10” to the ceiling, and adding molding and trim work -replacing faux legs in our island and cooking area with clean edges -building custom decorative panels for the island and columns -removing a cabinet to make room for a beverage center -countless repairs and fixes Gaby also coordinated painting - both the cabinets and the ceiling/walls, and painted over 50 cabinet doors/drawers himself. The painting turned out absolutely beautiful and professional - as if the cabinets were white from the beginning. He also coordinated many of the other jobs, including recommending an electrician for us who was also very reliable and professional. In many ways, he acted like a GC for us in addition to a carpenter. Can’t say enough about Gaby. He is an outstanding, meticulous carpenter. He knows his stuff in and out. He is reliable, prompt, efficient, reasonable, and goes above and beyond to deliver amazing results. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone and already planning other carpentry projects with him in mind. A+, 10/10, fabulous to work with. Thank you Gaby!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Mr. Terry was awesome! This is my first review I am writing. I felt I needed to write something as his work was so outstanding. He repaired 16 windows and did it beautifully. Marvin's quoted over $40K!! He was able to do what was needed for much much less. He was honest, professional, meticulous, extremely knowledgeable and kind. Miles above the window brand quotes which are ridiculous. Would strongly recommend if you need any window repairs!!!"

"Roldolfo responded very quickly and was able to accommodate our immediate timeline. He was always on time, very friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. His skim-coating around two newly installed windows was terrific, and he was kind enough to repair a few additional anchor holes we added after he had begun. That being said, my husband and I fixed several deficiencies with the painting we only noticed after he had left. In a few places, it looked like only one coat of paint was used on the walls and the trim, as a few spotty areas still showed some of the plain white primer underneath – as if the rollers were not sufficiently loaded with paint. It produced a slightly splotchy, uneven appearance close up. We touched up some drips on the radiators too. Once we added another coat of paint ourselves, in specific places, it looks beautiful. My husband and I wanted the job finished ASAP so we could put all the furniture back, so we did it ourselves...although based on his responsiveness Rodolfo would likely have offered to fix the problem areas if we had requested it. Personally I would not hire them again, but if you need a job done very quickly, he’s capable."

"You do not need to look any further.  This is your man, if you can get him.
Read on for details if you wish.
This guy is amazing!  Great work, on time, inexpensive. - A true craftsman.
We had a new garage door installed about six years ago, and sometimes it would begin to close, then reverse itself.  One more tap on the button would close it, but I had to sit and wait to make sure it closed properly before I left the house.
In the last few months it would bind and reverse itself more frequently, and last week it would take four or five tries to get it to close.
I re-subscribed to Angie's List to see if I could find a good service, and I reviewed several providers.
The smallest price for any service seemed to be about $150, but George Pike had many customers at $95.
And he had 100% A ratings.  I think one person had trouble reaching him, so they gave him a bad rating, even though he had never done work for them.  They really missed a gem here.
I used the Angie's List feature that sends a message through their service.  It was a little past 9 in the evening, so I did not expect a response until the next day.  But I got a response in about three minutes!  He said he would call the next day.
I got the call in mid-afternoon the next day, and we set  it up for two days later.
Today he called at about 12:15 PM, and said he was on the way.  I was out doing errands, but my wife was home.  I got home a half hour later, and he was already half done.  The previous installers had placed the track too tightly, and George had already identified the problem and moved one track  and reinstalled it in no time.  While he was there he saw they had attached the drive mechanism in a weak spot at the top of the door.  Screws were placed where there was only the aluminum shell of the door, when only a couple of inches further down there was solid material in the core of the door that would not flex and eventually break.  So he moved the attachment plate.  He also tightened the springs to better balance the door.
He had also discovered the electric eye was loose at the bottom of the door.  This prevents the door from closing if something is in the way. I had tried to secure that device a few months ago, but the old screw holes had some rot and it was tenuous.  George has discovered this and repaired that also.
He could not take care of me yesterday because someone in Ocala, FL had asked him to do a large commercial door up there yesterday.  Whoever that was bypassed Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, and Sarasota - bringing a master craftsman three hours away to get the job done right.
We talked a bit.  Mr. Pike came from Rhode Island where he worked for decades.  He has the common sense, skill, and character to provide a kind of service that is almost never seen today.  Most trades people today would have made an adjustment to stop the binding - maybe moving the track.  They might have tightened the springs.  If they did not wiggle the electric eye they would have not seen or repaired that problem.  No one else would have bothered with the way the drive plate was attached, as it was working fine.  Then they would have charged a $150 minimum, or may have looked to provide a more expensive repair.
I am glad that I was out when he arrived, so I could see how conscientious and efficient he was.  He discovered and fixed four problems in less than one hour.  Most providers would have fixed the most obvious thing and found one more to fix, so as to impress us.  Then they would have charged us $150.
I was about to write, "I'm speechless."  But as you can see, that doesn't ever really happen.
Don't waste any more time looking for better service.  There is no cheaper service.
You can pay more for less, and you are very likely to do so if you do not use him.
In the end he charged me $93 and change.  I gladly paid him $100.
I was lucky to find someone as efficient, as honest, as conscientious, and as skilled.  He is of  a vanishing breed.
Get George Pike while you can.

"This is the second time we've hired Atmosphere Painting and Plastering to fix cracks in our plaster, and we're just as thrilled with their work as we were the first time. They are conscientious and polite and willing to work around our schedule and needs. The quality of the wall repair and paint job were very high, and their pricing is more than fair. We absolutely feel like we got our money's worth. Our upstairs neighbors were so impressed with how clean they kept the job site, they asked for Atmosphere's business card. We will definitely call them again (a third time!) the next time we need painting or a wall repair done."

"I had Distinctive Painting paint to entire upstairs of my home. The job consist of all the ceilings, walls, trim, doors, baseboard and minor dry wall repair. Mario did a fantastic job on the trim, I was surprised he could paint that close to our hardwood floors and carpets without touching any of them. He correct all the cracks and repaired all screw holes in the drywall and the walls and ceiling looks great. The price was comparable to other quotes that I got. Overall my wife and I were very pleased with his work and will use again."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
