"I needed to replace the front steps because they were pulling away from the foundation. I received several quotes and Republic Masonry (Henry) came in with a budget friendly price.
Henry and his co-worker were professional and very detail oriented and cleaned up when the job was complete.
The stairs look wonderful! I would highly recommend Republic Masonry (Henry) for all your cement projects.

"Fantastic! Have hired them to do more work on the house since. They were on time, polite and professional, cleaned everything up along the way, and are really knowledgeable. This was a really complex job, in a really old home They could have cut corners many times but they never did. When something crazy came up due to our house being over 100 years old (which inevitably it did), like finding additional layers of floor and ceiling, they talked us through options, and did things the RIGHT way vs just the fastest or easiest. Their finish work was also done really well - cabinetry, tiling, painting, molding etc. Our new kitchen, bathroom and mudroom are beautiful, and we couldn't be happier with it! We get a lot of compliments on it, and I think if we had gone with anyone else it would have been more expensive and taken much longer to finish. They showed up every day and worked long hours - keeping us in the loop with where things were at all along the way. For everything that was involved, we were impressed with how quickly the work was completed. We've been so happy we have since hired them to do more work on the house - updating our foundation with masonry work."
"We originally hired Pioneer to advise on a project done poorly by a prior contractor. The rep who visited our home was very honest and helpful and said that a masonry expert would be better, and offered to send one afterwards for the same price we paid for our Angie's list deal. In the end, we had the dehumidifier installed to correct some other moisture problems in our basement. They were really pleasant to work with. The installation of the unit took less than an hour! They were prompt and professional. "

On average, a quality exterior brick stain can last between 10 and 20 years, and sometimes even longer. While it will look its best for a minimum of three to five years, its total lifespan depends on several factors. These include the quality and type of stain used, the condition of the brick, and the thoroughness of the surface preparation, such as proper cleaning. Following the manufacturer's application instructions and applying a sealant as a final step is also crucial. The stain's longevity can be affected by your location, climate, and the brick's exposure to harsh weather, high traffic, and other elements. Over time, the stain may begin to fade or look dingy due to weathering, erosion, dirt, and debris. Compared to paint, brick stain generally has a longer lifespan.
Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.
Cobblestone is not a type of rock but a term for a mosaic or rock laid down as a surface. It used to be made from the closest available stone but now can be made from nearly any hard rock, as machining has made shaping the stone much easier and cheaper.
Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost. In addition, quality masonry work requires years of training and experience, as with any skilled trade.
Yes, limewash on brick can accumulate dust over time. Its porous nature can attract dust particles, especially in environments with high levels of dust or dirt. Additionally, if the limewash surface is left unsealed, it may be more prone to collecting dust. Additionally, incorrectly applied limewash will generate dust. Causes include applying it too thickly instead of thin layers and not allowing enough drying time between layers. Regular maintenance, such as gentle cleaning or dusting, can help mitigate dusty issues.
