"Bright's estimator arrived when scheduled, and responded within a week with a thorough written estimate and proposed terms. Initially, responses to my questions about the bid, submitted by e-mail and phone, went unanswered for several weeks, but as I was about to give up on this firm, Bright's manager responded to all the questions, apologized for the time lapse (due to a change in communications management), and agreed to a more competitive price. Subsequent communications were very responsive and we quickly negotiated and executed our contract without difficulty. We then agreed to start the job on a date that worked well for my schedule. Bright's painters began on schedule; carefully and skillfully repaired holes and cracks, primed walls and trim, and painted final coats to my satisfaction. Each day they arrived when promised, worked efficiently and carefully, and cleaned up in preparation for the next day. They responded quickly to my questions and requests, and made touch-ups whenever requested. Alliance has several crews and were able to get to us quickly. First visit was great (David), who provided the quote, alternatives, samples, pictures & addresses of previous work. Separate gutter crew came shortly after siding was done. Cost was $28,000 for a 2 story cape with shake siding. We love the shake look compared to traditional horizontal siding, esp for a cape house. Brad shored it up for the winter with an array of jacks and an enormous chain to ensure the thing wouldn’t fall down till they could return in the spring. Come spring, they fully replaced the damaged section’s support members and facade, and added bracing to the attic, rendering it stronger than before. Foundation support: The sagging beams and jerry-rigged support columns in the dirt basement of our 18th century house were inadequate. They dug and poured a dozen footings and lally columns, supporting a line of new 6x6 and 9x9 beams that provide solid support to the house above. They showed up promptly every day, worked fast, and left the site clean and finished. Both Brad and Chad have a deep knowledge about old houses and the techniques that were used, and I felt my historic register property was in good hands."
