"The first guy that came out to clean my carpet, sofas and mattress did not do a good job at all. He rushed and finished a 2 hr cleaning job in 1 hour. I was very dissatisfied. I called carpet cleaning experts to complain and without hesitation they said they will send another guy out to re clean. Doug came out to clean the following week and this time the job was done right, he was thorough and professional, he even took pictures of the noticeable spots that was still on my sofas and carpet before he cleaned. After he was done cleaning, I was very happy with how much cleaner and better my carpet and sofas looked and smelled the second time around, and the spots were gone or much less noticeable. I will call and request Doug again if I should need them in the future."

  • Health: Cats with health issues like UTIs, bladder stones, diabetes, or kidney disease may pee around the house.

  • Marking: Cats may mark around the house to either claim their territory when other animals come around or to attract a mate.

  • Preferences: Your cat may simply prefer a larger litter box, or maybe they don’t like the new litter you bought on sale at the store.

Vinegar and baking soda can be effective for removing old carpet stains, although success may depend on the type of stain. There are two common methods for this process.

One method involves combining the ingredients directly on the stain to create a chemical reaction. First, pour a generous layer of dry baking soda over the stain. In a spray bottle, mix distilled white vinegar with 1 cup of warm water and a few drops of liquid dish soap, then spray this solution thoroughly over the baking soda. The mixture will foam as the acidic vinegar reacts with the basic baking soda, which helps loosen and lift the stain. Let this sit for a few hours until it dries, then wipe or vacuum up the residue and blot the area with a clean, dry towel. You can repeat the process if the stain persists.

An alternative method suggests using the ingredients separately. Start by sprinkling baking soda on the stain and letting it sit for 15 to 30 minutes before vacuuming it up. Next, blot the remaining stain with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, and then blot the area dry with a clean cloth.

While they both help to penetrate tough fibers and have similar designs, there is a difference between an upholstery cleaner and a carpet cleaner. Carpet cleaners are much tougher on stains and use much more concentrated solutions, while upholstery cleaners are a bit softer on fabrics and use lighter solutions. While an upholstery cleaner may work on a carpet, your carpet cleaner might be too rough on your upholstered furniture.

To prepare your upholstery for steam cleaning, start by vacuuming it clean. Pretreat any stains with a professional stain fighter or your own solution of dish soap and water. Pre-condition the fabric with the products of your choice, and be sure to include a shampoo if the fabric allows for shampooing. Start steam cleaning your couch or other piece of furniture with the cushions, then tackle the rest of the chair. Make sure you leave plenty of time to let it dry.

Steam cleaning a couch should get rid of most smells, but there are some more potent smells that require a bit more work than steam cleaning. For instance, steam cleaning won’t likely get the smell of pee out of a couch. To remove urine odor from a couch, you’ll most likely need to use an enzymatic cleaner, which targets the smell and stain.
