Small jobs welcome

"Steven provided very useful information before celling and bathroom fan purchases were made. He was very considerate of the small spaces he had to work with during installation. Steven explained how to use the remotes, and the overall operation of each fan. Would highly recommend him for your electrical needs."

"I was having a hard time finding an electrician. None of them would respond to me. I finally used home advisor and Joseph Janusâ name came up. He got in touch with me right away and was able to come out when I needed him. He did an amazing job fixing my light switches and asked if I needed anything else fixed. I told him that the light in the garage door wasnâ t working and that the light bulb on the garage ceiling needed to be changed. He fixed them for me and even surprised me by fixing the door knob on my door to the garage which was loose. He also took the time to show me how to open my garage door without the garage door opener in the event that the power goes out again. The price was also very reasonable . I canâ t say enough good things about Joseph Janus. I will definitely use him again and would recommend him to anyone!"

"Our central air unit died during the hottest days of the year so far. It is a new unit . We called a few places desperate for service and were told it would be a few weeks for most companies to make it out. Called Landrys after finding them on google. A woman called me back less than 20 minutes after first phone call and said they would be out today. Tyler came and was great. Fixed our unit and saved our life! We will be using them in the future for sure. 5 stars for service and their customer service is without a doubt 5 stars as well."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan where a standard light fixture is, as the electrical wiring is often similar and may not need to be replaced. The most important step is to ensure the ceiling can support the fan's weight and motion. You will need to replace the existing light fixture's electrical box with a fan-rated electrical box, which is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and vibration. These boxes will be labeled as suitable for ceiling fan support and will indicate the maximum weight they can hold. Before you begin, also consider if you need an extension rod for a high ceiling or a special mount for an angled ceiling.
