"We met with Ray a number of time to go over exact cabinet details as well as finishes.  We elected a high-gloss white that is simply beautiful.  What we did ahead of time is decide exactly how many pull out draws we wanted and there exact heights so things like cans, bottles, etc. would fit in cabinets in the location we wanted.
The install went perfect and they had to move in some large pieces through the rear sliding door.  Nothing got dinged (nothing!)  The cabinets fit like a glove.  They leveled every piece exactly.  They scribed each piece to fit exact.  The fridge fits with about 1/8" clearance which is the tolerance we needed for the manufacture's trim kit.  The stove fit just as well.  We opted for the soft close drawers glides which are just great.  I just give them a push and the close feather soft..
Look around but definitely get a quote from Ray.  I think you will be very pleasantly surprised  with his prices.  His design skills are a great asset and as he knows exactly what he is building and there are no surprises.  It is not often you can get a soups to nuts solution where there is never any finger pointing.but here is the rare case.."

"

This was about as seamless a kitchen renovation that one could ever hope for.  Dave listened carefully to the goals we wanted to achieve in our kitchen, and was patient with the design adjustments we wanted to incorporate as we considered each version of the design plans.  One cabinet in particular that was added toward the end of the design process was brilliantly conceived on his part--a cabinet to store large items that looked like a lovely piece of dining room furniture, with exterior shelving and drawers. It is a centerpiece in the kitchen.  Dave was careful to preserve important walk ways in our kitchen so as to not create bottlenecks--an important element in this centrally located kitchen.  His advice on style and color of cabinetry was also highly valued in our desire to achieve a cleaner and brighter look, yet one that was still consistent with our 1931 Colonial.

The Brookhaven cabinets are beautiful and well-made.  While they are pricey, Dave was able to steer us to take advantage of a manufacturer's discount.  The selection of hardware that was available without incurring additional cost was completely adequate, and we took advantage of this option.

Installation of the cabinetry was smooth and timely.  We decided to make a last minute change to the placement of our microwave, which necessitated the order of a new drawer.  This took longer than we had hoped, but understood that this was not a Kitchen Center issue, but rather one of the manufacturer, as each items is custom made.  When the drawer arrived, it was without a front--this added more time.

Once the cabinetry was installed, irregularities were minimal.  Dave and a service that works with him tended to adjusting hinges, covering screw heads, and painting areas that needed to be smoothed.

Overall, working with the Kitchen Center exceeded our expectations.  Communication and responsiveness were excellent.  They partnered well with our contractor so that there were no glitches or last minute surprises--almost unheard of for a kitchen renovation.  The quality of the design and workmanship has made for a space that we are loving, and our only regret was that we did no redo our kitchen sooner!

"We are so glad we found Wayside Kitchens.
Of the competing kitchen design companies we checked out, there was one other that stuck out at us for the wrong reasons. We had a limited budget to which they said we could only expect to get a mix of low to medium level materials. After visiting that showroom, we were very underwhelmed.
However, when we visited with Mary at Wayside Kitchen we immediately clicked with her. She assured us that we could get the level of materials we desired within our budget. We also liked that her small family owned company was located not too far from where we live. She and her assistant when about designing and presented us with three layouts to choose from. We were able to combine elements we liked from two of them. Along with the final design proposal they also presented us with carefully selected styles for the various materials. In almost all cases we liked her initial choice which helped keep the project within our desired timeline. Even the granite slab she selected as her top choice won (plus it was on sale). It was not a monotonous pattern and had a very cool and large focal point we were able to present on the island.
The cabinets were ordered and delivered on time.   Jim (Mary's husband) came in to demolish the old kitchen. Jim did find and replace some drywall and insulation that had old mold on it. This was not in the original budget it needed to be done. After the floors, electrical and wall preparation were completed, Jim installed the cabinets with great expertise. He even let our 4 year old son "help" here and there. There were some minor issues (that come with living in an older home) with our walls not being square off in the corner and one of the cabinets had to be cut down to fit, but these were handled professionally with no concerns on our part. The granite counter top sub-contractors also did a great job with measurements and installation.
Tiling, however, turned out to be the only sour note in our project. This particular sub-contractor did not perform up to our expectation, nor that of Mary and Jim.  Both the floor tiles and backspash tiles were not fitted flush everywhere along with some other issues.  At first the subcontractor managed to correct some of the flooring mistakes but then he stopped responding. Mary and Jim brought in another subcontractor (tile man) to fix some of the errors and to do the remaining clean up.  He worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally.  Unfortunately full correction would have resulted in a much longer renovation time and to be fair the tiling mistakes are not immediately noticeable until close inspection but Mary and Jim still compensated for the trouble to our satisfaction.
Even with the minor bumps the project stayed under budget and only a week or two beyond the expected end date. We got the kitchen we desired with the features we wanted. We love Mary and Jim and would definitely use their services again and recommend them to our friends."

"The team at Kitchen Options did a tremendous job with cabinet refacing and installing new counters. The kitchen was transformed from a dark, oak wood based cabinet kitchen to a warm, inviting, and bright, white cabinet kitchen through refacing. The refacing team are experts in their craft, answered all of our questions, and left us with a new kitchen that is perfect for entertaining. We could not be happier with the cabinet refacing and countertops installed by the team at Kitchen Options."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"This is a reliable family owned painting company. They are very good at communicating with their clients. They are also punctual. Really appreciate the kind demeanor of each of the workers including the owners. They did a great job preparing the space for painting. I was impressed by the level of attention to detail given to painting each cabinet. The day the cabinet doors were being put back up Priscila came by to make sure everything was well done and in good order. I appreciate her keen attention to detail as she noticed a couple of the doors needed an additional coat of paint to fully match the rest. I am so grateful she caught that. I would've noticed eventually and would've been disappointed. She has her clients' best interest at hand for sure. I highly recommend Flash Painters for your painting needs. Some tips for your cabinet painting project: 1. Empty out the cabinets completely. It's easier for the painter to really get in there to cover the inside of the cabinet. Also, even though they do a great job covering, the over spray just has a way of getting everywhere. If you don't want your glass vases to end up with white specs of paint on them make sure you take them out of the cabinet before it gets painted. 2. Cover your stove top with plastic. Again, the over spray gets in between the layers of paper. 3. If you get a chance wipe the surfaces immediately after the paint has been completed. As long as the paint is fresh it will come off but once it's dry it's there forever. We didn't have any major issues with this because I got ahead of it."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Solid wood is the most common material for cabinet bases. It’s a popular choice because it’s durable and will hold up over time. Oak, maple, cherry, hickory, and pine are all types of solid wood that can be used to build cabinet bases. Other options include plywood, medium-density fiberboard, and other types of manufactured lumber, but they need to be sealed properly to avoid swelling, separating, and delamination from moisture.

Custom cabinets made from solid wood tend to last the longest, remaining in good condition for 20 to 50 years. Cabinet lifespan depends on upkeep, the amount of heat and moisture inside the home, and general wear and tear. Popular hardwood options include oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and hickory. Its longevity means that solid wood is more expensive than alternative materials like furniture board, laminate, and plywood. The average cost of solid wood cabinets ranges from $100 to $1,200 per linear foot.

There are several ways to save money and keep costs down when building an outdoor kitchen. Building on an existing patio can reduce the cost of a new foundation, especially if it's close to the house. You can also save on utility line installation by opting out of a sink and using a built-in propane or charcoal grill. If you have the skills, tackling parts of the project yourself—like building or finishing cabinets, installing fixtures, and constructing seating—can lead to significant savings. Reusing appliances you already have is another great way to cut costs. Finally, consider starting small with just the essential components and adding more features over time as your budget allows.

Yes, many services include the removal and disposal of old cabinets. Confirm with your contractor.

Yes, you can replace the cabinet hardware after installation to change up the look of your cabinets. Replacing the hinges, handles, pulls, and knobs allows you the design flexibility to match your other appliances or finish schemes to your liking. Talk with your kitchen designer or cabinet installer about the best hardware option for your cabinets.
