The first visit was normal. cleaned by Mark. Service was good. The pool still had a good bit of sediment and at most a few leaves. I asked them to come back and clean again. when I saw the pool, Mark had just left. It was cloudy as expected. Once this settled down, it did not appear to have been vacuumed but brushed as there was nearly the same amount of sediment. I complained about the fact that I had asked for it to be vacuumed. CeCe Dupuis answered my email and informed me that the pool was netted and it had stirred up all the algae at the bottom of the pool. She then told me how she takes care of 300 pools and this was her first complaint. I then emailed her back indicating that there were simply not enough leaves at the bottom of the pool to interfere with vaccuming. I explained that I simply wanted a good cleaning and any good company would want to know if there customers werent happy with what happened so that they could be a better company. She then emailed me back called me a liar and asked me to find another company. I thought they handled my complaint innaproprately. Instead of communicating with me a reason for the issue they simply called me a liar and refused to service me further. although the conversation was cordial its no way to run a business or handle a complaint. While I did have an issue with the vacuuming that was performed; He was knowledgeable and the first cleaning was appropriate. A total fabrication. Gary Mattte Builders was not a certified Hardie installer, which we later found out. Hardie specifies installation be done with double dipped galvanized nails, which Jimmy stated they would do. Not! They installed using staples. Rusty staples. We made several attempts to contact Jimmy, but got no reply or return calls. We contacted a Hardie representative who stated in writing that staples were not approved for use. Also, he stated that staples were not an approved fastener for fiber cement products by the National Residential Building Codes. Jimmy's boss, Ronnie, came out to the house and stated that they had done it this way(with staples) for a long time and that they would not change the way they do things. After I argued with him, he agreed to face nail all of the planks by hand with a thin spiral nail, filling the nail heads with caulk. The installer came out, cut and replaced a few planks, and banged on some uneven boards with a hammer, trying to get them to line up, but only made dents in the material. Staples are still showing on the gable ends. I could probably count on two hands the number of face nails put on the gable ends. The contract called for Gary Matte to install a Tyvek moisture barrier beneath the siding. The crew installed one whole gable end while we were at work without the Tyvek. They forgot. Right. Only when I discovered this and pointed it out that they agreed to remove the Hardie and install the moisture barrier. The Tyvek that was installed looked like a patchwork quilt, apparently using scraps from a previous job. They also installed a vent(octagon instead of oval as was specified) in the gable near the ridge without cutting a vent hole in the plywood below. They forgot. Right. I made them remove the vent, replace it with the oval one that we ordered and cut the hole in the plywood. Then there is the paint job. While waiting on the painters(for about 3 months since the installation), the boards were exposed to rain, dust, and dirt. No effort was made to clean before painting. What was on the siding was painted over. Two coats of paint were to have been applied, but I seriously doubt that. Much of the painting was done while we were at work, and the timeline that the work was completed suggests that only one coat was applied. There are round vent holes in the soffit boards. The paint that was applied was so thick that many of those holes are filled with paint, making them useless. A hand made copper trellis was apparently used to wipe excess paint from one of the brushes. On top of this, there was the promise of a free Cajun Microwave(bar be que pit) when the contract was signed(I have that in writing too), which was never delivered. All of the above was addressed in a letter to Laura Matte, owner, on 4-6-07. Not even a response. I will never use this company again, and would discourage anyone else from doing so. When Mr. Trahan?s crew arrived, they were courteous, friendly, highly competent and professional. My husband was impressed with their expertise in keeping tree parts clear of neighbors? yards. The job took the better part of two days. They had equipment that allowed them to take the wood out through a narrow gate to the front. Also, they had a stump grinder that was narrow enough to come through the gate. No crane was needed. The brush and wood were piled up in the front on the street (one lane was blocked for a few hours during the early afternoons ? not a heavily trafficked time on our sleepy suburban street) and they had a very large truck haul it all away. The cleanup was immaculate each afternoon ? not a scrap or leaf was left in the street. The stump grinding went deep and left much fertile oak mulch for other flowerbeds and for this patch of ground where the stump was. Additionally, I appreciate the fact that they had the Gulf South pipeline and the city send notices reminding me to call for pipeline and electrical markers ahead of time. Everything was seamless. Thank you, Arbor Care, for such excellent service. Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.
