"I really appreciate the way Mr. Hanks handled everything from the beginning when he took time out of his schedule to come out to location to give estimate, which was really good. He done a really good job removing the burnt house structure, slab, and driveway. He even leveled the ground beautifully. It is some of the best work I've ever seen."

Small jobs welcome

"Pete and his team are AMAZING! They were so so kind and knowledgeable. He communicated with me until and after the appt. They came ready and far exceeded my expectations. He was hired for electrical/breaker box, but we found he is certified to do more and he looked it all for us. Reasonable and professional! Thank you! Hire this company! They treat you like family!"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Reviewing your contract for termination terms is best when ending a relationship with a contractor. If there is nothing in the contract or you had a verbal agreement, communicate your decision in writing, citing specific reasons. Afterward, pay for the completed work per your original agreement. Remember you want a record of all correspondence in case you need a lawyer later to settle disputes.

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

If a contractor is in breach of your contract, sometimes it is possible to collect damages for unreasonable delays. However, such claims can be expensive and difficult to prove. If there’s a way to complete the work and maybe negotiate for a discount for some of the inconvenience, that might be a simpler and cheaper way to resolve any disputes.

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

A handyperson can perform a wide variety of home improvement and repair projects. Common jobs include painting, cleaning gutters, assembling new furniture, and replacing fixtures like cabinets or lights. They can also handle more complex tasks such as installing a dishwasher, fixing minor plumbing leaks, refinishing wood floors, and replacing doors. Generally, a handyperson is ideal for any project that does not require a specific license or certification, such as those related to major plumbing, electrical, or structural work, which should be handled by a licensed tradesperson.
