"We hired Southwest Maintenance and Construction to do remodeling and add a bedroom, bathroom, and closet in my home. The owners are friendly but as for contractors they are not. They splattered paint all over, then told us to paint it ourself a The expensive material that was bought they exchanged for cheaper material, they bought the cheapest fixtures, lighting, they put presswood down on top of a molded floor then layer linoleum on top of it, the flooring was actually supposed to be torn apart and redone.. wainscoting was supposed to be done in one of the bathrooms it was not done nor did they paint it, the flooring is coming up and breaking apart, they are not dependable. They started the job in Oct 2019 and to date have not finished it. But, they sure wanted their money. They were paid $28,000 and did maybe a $5,000 Job. Unacceptable. They put doors up but no knobs for the doors. They did not put any facings between the rooms, it was an absolute shabby job that they never even came back to finish!! I have pictures to show. Now we have to find somebody else to come out and redo the job."

"Doug Doucet came to repair our gutters. We trusted him to give us good service and a fair price. He did not clean out the gutters, they were still packed with leaves and debris after he left. After paying him $800, we then had to pay a carpenter to complete the work that he did not do. He also spent more time trying to repair one of the box miters instead of just putting a new one. It looked horrible! We had to get a carpenter to take it off and put a new one on, again having to pay him for what Doug should have done. AND, when we called him to tell him he should have put a new box miter, he said he didn't have one with him, but he could come back and charge us another $50!!!!!!"

Once you’ve installed your gutters, you'll need to maintain them. You should clean your gutters once or twice a year to keep them functioning correctly. But don’t wait for them to break to give them a checkup. Inspect this part of your gutters on a yearly basis, and make repairs at the first sight of damage.

There are a handful of things you can look for to determine if you need to pay for gutter repairs, including the following:

  • Water leaking from the underside of your gutters during rainfall

  • Visible gaps between your gutters and your roof

  • Frequent issues with gutters overflowing or holding standing water

  • Gutters that sag or pull away from the house

  • Water damage to soffits, fascia boards, or other building materials

  • Mold growth on your exterior walls

  • Soil erosion underneath your roof overhang

  • Foundation leaks or inward bowing of foundation walls

Whether it’s better to repaint or replace gutters will depend on their overall state. One or two small damages can easily be fixed and covered up with a fresh coat of paint for minimal additional costs. On the other hand, you’ll likely pay less to install a new set-up rather than fixing one that’s heavily damaged.
